Udo peanut latte at Aewolbon Café, an Aewol coastal road café in Jeju

On the last day of my Jeju trip, I wanted to have a coffee looking at the sea before heading to the airport. Of course it was an extremely windy day, so sitting outside was out of the question — I wanted somewhere indoors where the ocean view would still hold up. That's how I ended up at Aewolbon Café (애월본카페) on Aewol Coastal Road.

Why Aewolbon Café among all the Aewol cafés in Jeju

I'd had a late breakfast-lunch at Aewol-eomma and was too full to move right away, so I decided to grab a coffee before driving on. It's just over ten minutes by car to Aewol Coastal Road, so I drove slowly to help digest. There are so many Aewol cafés that I went back and forth for a while, but since my main goal that day was to sit close to the sea, I picked this one.

Aewolbon Café parking and how to find it

Aewolbon Café's address is 179 Aewolhaean-ro, Aewol-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do. Driving along Aewol Coastal Road, you'll spot the red two-story building right next to some palm trees — no need to hunt for a sign. There's a parking lot out front, but it only fits three or four cars. When we arrived it was already full, so we parked across the road and walked in.

Ordering on the first floor and the outdoor seating at Aewolbon Café

You order on the first floor. Next to the counter is a dessert display, and the scones caught my eye. I ended up just ordering coffee, but I kept thinking about the scone I didn't get.

There are seats by the floor-to-ceiling windows on the first floor too, so you can see the sea without going up to the second floor. Outside, there are plenty of rocking chairs and table seats.

I imagine plenty of people just spot the outdoor seating from Aewol Coastal Road and wander in. It's dog-friendly too, so if you're traveling with a pup, this one's worth keeping in mind.

Ocean views from the second-floor window seats

The wind was so strong that day that sitting outside wasn't even an option, so we went up to the second floor. Near the entrance, two two-seater sofas sit side by side facing the sea head-on. Those were clearly the most popular spots.

I sat on the wide sofa in the corner by the window. It's not a direct-facing seat but more of a side view of the sea — the seat itself was spacious and comfortable, and the ocean view had nothing to complain about. With the floor-to-ceiling windows, the sea fills the view right from where you're sitting. I've been to quite a few Aewol cafés, and this is one of the better indoor views I've come across.

The waves were crashing hard that day, a completely different picture from the calm Jeju sea you see in photos. Our drinks were brought up to the second floor, so once we settled in, we didn't have to go back downstairs — we could just sit and stay.

I stepped out onto the second-floor terrace briefly, but the wind was so strong that I only caught a quick look at the sea before heading back in.

I heard the sandwiches are also a signature item, but since we'd already eaten, I saved that for next time.

How do the Udo peanut latte and dolce latte taste?

There were two of us, so ordering one café latte and one dolce latte would have covered it — but since the Udo Peanut Latte is the signature drink, I figured I'd keep thinking about it if I skipped it, so we ended up ordering one more.

With the Udo Peanut Latte, the peanut flavor hits strong from the first sip. It's closer to soy milk than coffee, so if you like nutty flavors you'll enjoy it — but if you're expecting a sweet latte, it might not be what you're picturing.

The Dolce Latte had a light coffee flavor with the sweetness of condensed milk giving a nice pick-me-up. It went well with sitting by the window looking at the sea.

If you're not into sweet drinks, the café latte is a safe, easy-drinking option. Of the three, the Udo Peanut Latte was the one that stuck with me most — I think it would've been even better with extra ice for a colder, more refreshing sip.

An Aewol coastal road café to stop at before Jeju Airport

After finishing our coffee, we headed to Jeju Airport to return the rental car. It's about thirty to forty minutes to the airport, so if you're looking for a Jeju Aewol café to fill the time before your rental car return, it's worth a stop while driving along Aewol Coastal Road.
