My husband, the kids and I went out to Aewol and stopped by Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch, a place my friends had been raving about for a while now-!

Jeju local friends of mine go there often too, so I was really curious about it. Turns out when I visited, it wasn't just locals — foreign tourists were coming too, so it really is a genuine local favorite in Aewol.

A cozy room shared by Jeju locals and foreign visitors
Walking into Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch, I got a really clean, well-kept impression overall! The tables weren't cramped together either, so it was a comfortable setting to eat with the kids.
Sure enough, alongside locals eating like us, there were plenty of foreign tourists who'd clearly heard about the place too — I thought, yep, we found the right spot!
Where do you park at Handam Guksu in Aewol?
Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch has its own dedicated parking lot right in front. When you're moving around with kids, parking spots and routes always matter a lot, so being able to park conveniently right in front of the restaurant was a huge plus for accessibility-!
Even when the lot was full, they gave us a 1-hour parking support voucher for the nearby Handam Coastal Trail parking lot, so we got in without any parking stress! There's a pretty coastal walking path along Aewol's sea right around the restaurant too, so it's a perfect spot to stroll before or after eating!!
Extra-large pork noodles in rich bone broth the kids loved

For the kids, I ordered the extra-large pork noodles at Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch. It came topped with tender Jeju pork over a deep, rich bone broth simmered for a long time.

The kids tried the broth and just kept slurping it up happily. My daughter in particular raved that it was the best gogi guksu (pork noodle soup) she'd ever had-!

Mala pork noodles: how spicy are they?

My husband went for the unusual mala pork noodles. He'd said he had no appetite right up until we walked in, but suddenly claimed his appetite was back — I laughed for a while about that^^;

I tried a bit of the broth and the tingling mala spice paired perfectly with the nutty peanut sauce — it had an addictive kind of charm-!

Dongchimi bibim noodles with a generous pile of pork

What I ordered, the dongchimi bibim noodles, combined a refreshing dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth with a savory special sauce and a generous amount of pork.

The sauce soaked into every bite so thoroughly that even though I was already full, I kept eating without stopping.

Is Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol worth it with kids?

From the classic pork noodles to the special mala noodles to the spicy-tangy bibim noodles, this place won over the whole family's taste buds-! If you're near Aewol looking for a can't-go-wrong noodle restaurant, give Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch a try🙂
