Jeju café for mango yogurt smoothie and matcha scone: Aewolbon Café

Hi, we're Long Long Buboo :) When you're traveling around Jeju, it feels like you end up stopping at one or two cafés a day, haha. Aewol especially has so many pretty cafés that it's hard to pick where to go — this time around we visited Aewolbon Café.

This time it wasn't really a 'stop because we're near a tourist spot' kind of visit — we just wanted to sit in a café, have a drink and dessert, and relax. Once we actually got there, it turned out to be a surprisingly comfortable place to stay a while, so today I'll mostly talk about the vibe of the café and the menu we tried ☕️

What is the atmosphere like at Aewolbon Café?

The first thing we noticed walking into Aewolbon Café was how calm and comfortable the overall mood was. When you think of a Jeju café, you usually picture an ocean view right on the water or a super flashy interior, but Aewolbon Café felt less like that and more like a place to just sit down with a drink and take a short break.

When you're constantly moving around while traveling, seeing pretty spots is great, but you also need moments where you're doing nothing at all, lol. That's exactly what we did that day — we ordered our drinks and just sat there chatting at our own pace. The space wasn't overly decorated or busy, which actually made it easier to just sit comfortably, and we liked that quiet, cozy feeling unique to this café.

What two people ordered at Aewolbon Café

We ordered a mango yogurt smoothie, an iced Americano, and a matcha scone, haha. When you're visiting as a couple, I think the safest combo is each person picking their own drink and sharing one dessert. So instead of over-ordering, we went with two drinks and one dessert.

In Jeju, you end up craving something sweet and refreshing pretty much every time. With the yogurt added to the mango's signature sweetness, it felt a bit softer and tangier than just plain mango.

I tend to drink a lot of iced drinks while traveling, so whenever there's a smoothie on the menu I end up ordering it, haha. The sweetness of the mango and the tartness of the yogurt together made it easy to drink almost like a dessert. It paired surprisingly well with the matcha scone too — the scone is nutty and mild, so sipping the mango yogurt in between gave a little burst of freshness.

Iced Americano

And of course, we had to order an iced Americano too — a café staple. No matter how pretty the café is, someone always ends up reaching for coffee, lol. The iced Americano was clean and easy to drink, which made it a solid match for the dessert too.

Especially with a flavorful dessert like the matcha scone, I think an Americano works way better than a sweet drink. Since the two of us have different drink preferences, one of us went with the refreshing smoothie and the other with the clean Americano — ordering it this way meant we could both taste a bit of each other's drink, which was nice, haha.

And the menu item I was quietly looking forward to that day was the matcha scone. If you like matcha, it's hard to just walk past a matcha dessert on a café menu, lol. The outside was mild with that signature scone nuttiness, and the bitter depth of the matcha made it a great match for coffee.

Personally, I prefer desserts with a slight bitterness like matcha over ones that are just plain sweet, so this suited my taste perfectly. A sip of iced Americano, then a bite of matcha scone — that's exactly the dessert combo you want at a café! Pairing it with the smoothie made it taste sweeter overall, while pairing it with the Americano brought out the matcha flavor more.

A Jeju café worth lingering in

What I liked about spending time at Aewolbon Café was that we never felt the urge to 'finish up and leave' — we just wanted to sit and rest. Traveling around Jeju actually takes more out of you than you'd expect.

After getting ready in the morning, wandering around sightseeing spots, taking photos, moving from place to place — by the time you walk into a café, you really just want a moment of rest. In that kind of moment, a calm space like this feels much more welcome than a loud, busy café.

With a drink each and dessert to share, chatting about the trip and looking up where to go next, we ended up staying a pretty long time before we knew it, haha. A café is somewhere you go to drink something, sure, but on a Jeju trip it's also a place to catch your breath for a bit. In that sense, Aewolbon Café was a pretty comfortable space for us.

There are so many different cafés in Aewol that it can honestly be hard to choose. This visit to Aewolbon Café felt less like a spot purely for flashy photos and more like a good fit for anyone who wants to relax over a drink and dessert. If you want to sit down for a bit mid-trip like we did and enjoy a nice drink and dessert, it was a solid choice.

If you've only been looking at ocean-view or large-scale cafés when searching for a café in Aewol, Jeju, it might be worth trying a more relaxed, comfortable spot this time. There's something refreshing like the mango yogurt smoothie, a basic coffee like the Americano, and a dessert like the matcha scone, so there's something to pick depending on your mood.

Aewolbon Café, which we stopped by on this Jeju trip! We ordered the mango yogurt smoothie, iced Americano, and matcha scone and took our time enjoying them. The refreshing, sweet mango yogurt smoothie, the clean iced Americano, and the bittersweet, nutty matcha scone all tasted different from each other, which also made them great to share between the two of us.

More than anything, it wasn't the kind of café where you rush in, drink your coffee, and rush back out — we got to have a real break in the middle of our Jeju trip, which was nice. Finding new spots while traveling is fun, but sometimes just sitting in a café doing nothing and taking it slow is part of the charm of a Jeju trip too 🌿
