Seafood restaurant, Suseong Daegu: grilled mackerel at Geumdeungeo
In short
Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch is a seafood restaurant in Suseong, Daegu, where I had oven-grilled mackerel and spicy stir-fried pork with my mother and maternal grandmother. There was a short weekday lunch wait, but the lightly seasoned mackerel, sweet-spicy pork, and self-service side-dish bar made for a satisfying family meal.

I visited Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch (금등어 들안길 본점) in Suseong, Daegu, with my mother and maternal grandmother. We ordered oven-grilled mackerel and jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork) together, and the older members of my family enjoyed it too, making it a satisfying family meal.

Where can you park, and is there a weekday wait?
The restaurant is on the second floor at 57 Deulan-ro in Suseong, Daegu. Parking was available on the building's first floor and in the parking tower, and we parked on the first floor. We took the elevator up to the second floor, which led directly into the restaurant.
There was a wait even though we visited on a weekday afternoon. We joined the waitlist, waited briefly, and went in; there were not many empty seats inside either.

What are the opening and break times?
At the time of my visit, the posted hours were 11:00–21:20, with last orders at 20:40. Break time was 15:30–17:00. Sunday hours differed, running from 11:00–20:40, with last orders at 20:00. When the original post was written, a closure for the Chuseok holiday on Sep 24–25 was also posted.
What did we order, and how much was it?
One menu item per person was required. The original post also introduced it as an Ansim Restaurant.

Side dishes and oven-grilled mackerel were also sold separately.

We ordered two oven-grilled mackerel, one jeyuk bokkeum, and sikhye (sweet rice punch). The oven-grilled mackerel was ₩19,000, jeyuk bokkeum was ₩20,000, and sikhye was ₩3,000.

We could order from a tablet at the table.

How do the side-dish bar and dining supplies work?
We could take as many extra side dishes as we wanted from the self-service bar. There were several kinds of side dishes, and other diners were using it too.

Children's tableware, aprons, scissors, and tongs were also available for guests to take as needed.

What did the oven-grilled mackerel and jeyuk bokkeum taste like?
The basic side dishes and doenjang soup came out first. A staff member explained that we could turn down the heat and serve the soup once it started boiling.

Once our order arrived, we had a full table with both grilled mackerel and jeyuk bokkeum. We could bring back more of the basic side dishes from the self-service bar, which made the meal feel filling.

The jeyuk bokkeum was sweet and spicy. It went well spooned over rice.

The oven-grilled mackerel was not heavily seasoned. Nuruk salt was served alongside it, so we could dip it to suit our taste, and it was good with warm rice.

What is available after the meal?
Coffee and cups of ice were available to enjoy after the meal.

Snacks to have after the meal were also prepared.

We finished with the sikhye we had ordered. Its sweetness was just right, and everyone enjoyed it; at ₩3,000, I also felt the portion was generous.

My mother and maternal grandmother enjoyed the meal too. There was a wait even on a weekday afternoon, but we did not have to wait long when we visited. Sharing the grilled mackerel and pork, we had a filling meal together as a family.
