In short
Tareudang is a fruit mochi and egg tart dessert shop on the main street of Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk. The golden kiwi mochi was unwrapped right on the street and split into six bites by the couple, and the mango yogurt mochi was cut open with scissors back at the guesthouse to check the cross-section. Tareudang, Gyeongju
Where is Tareudang in Gyeongju, and its hours and parking
Tareudang is a fruit mochi shop at 49 Sajeong-ro, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongbuk, right along the main street of Hwangnidang-gil. It's open daily from 11:00 to 19:00, and there's no dedicated parking lot.
Fruit mochi is so hot on Instagram and social media these days! And I heard there was a famous fruit mochi place in Gyeongju's Hwangnidang-gil too, so I stopped by. It's called "Tareudang," and since it's right on the main street of Hwangnidang-gil, it was super accessible — easy to pop into while wandering around.

There wasn't a big sign, but I still immediately knew — oh, that's Tareudang! The exterior is cute and charming.

This "Hwangnam mochi Tareudang" standing sign! I'd seen it a lot on Instagram, so it's famous 📸✨!

Tareudang's six fruit mochi flavors and the photo-review cooler bag giveaway
Tareudang's display case had chocolate, peach yogurt, mango yogurt, fig yogurt, pineapple, and golden kiwi mochi. They were also running a promotion where writing a Naver photo review gets you a free box and cooler bag.

Check out the menu board too! And right now they're running a photo-review event where you get a free box and cooler bag. Since fruit mochi has cream inside, packing it in hot weather often means you really need a cooler bag. I thought that was a thoughtful review promotion. If you visit, make sure to grab it! 🛍️❄️

Watermelon juice, egg tart and cheesecake at Tareudang
They also sell watermelon juice here — my husband loves real fresh watermelon juice, so I'll have to try that at Tareudang next time.

I believe the name Tareudang comes from "tart" — so their egg tarts are super famous too. They also sell cheesecake, so it seems like a great place to enjoy a variety of desserts!
Golden kiwi mochi eaten on the street at Hwangnidang-gil
We couldn't wait until we got to the guesthouse — we unwrapped Tareudang's golden kiwi mochi right on the street in Hwangnidang-gil. It was bigger than expected; my husband and I split it into about six bites.

I'd actually planned to leisurely open it at the guesthouse, but I got too excited and ended up unwrapping it and eating one outside. I just couldn't hold out. The phrase printed inside the box tugged at my heartstrings too, haha. We decided to try the kiwi mochi outside first and save the mango yogurt one, which I was most curious about, for the guesthouse.

The packaging was so meticulous that I thought the boxed version would make a perfect gift. Receiving fruit mochi like this as a present would be so touching ^_^

And here's the golden kiwi mochi!

It was seriously bigger than I expected! My husband and I split it into about six bites. With fruit mochi, the freshness of the fruit really matters — and the golden kiwi was so sweet and juicy, it tasted heavenly! I was practically stamping my feet with delight right there on the street.
Mango yogurt mochi cut open with scissors at the guesthouse
Back at the guesthouse, I cut Tareudang's mango yogurt mochi open with scissors to check the cross-section. The mango was perfectly ripened, and the cream, mochi, and mango came together in perfect harmony.

There happened to be scissors at the guesthouse, so I was able to show you the cross-section, haha. Can you see the mango's beauty...? It was perfectly ripened and so delicious. And the cream, mochi, and mango all worked together so harmoniously.
Why the chocolate mochi from Tareudang went uneaten
And the one remaining chocolate mochi... what happened to it? Honestly, I was looking forward to that one too, so I left it in the fridge to eat the next day — but ugh, I completely forgot to grab it on the way out of the guesthouse... I asked the guesthouse owner, but apparently any food left behind gets thrown out right away. So the chocolate mochi never made it into my mouth... Even thinking about it now, it's so disappointing and sad. Someone please avenge my grief. If you go to Tareudang, definitely buy a chocolate mochi and eat it there and then. (Checking the fridge before checkout is a must... sob.) 🥺💔
Is Tareudang in Gyeongju worth a stop?
Tareudang in Gyeongju is a dessert spot I'm fully satisfied with — fresh, generously sized fruit mochi! 🥭 The packaging is pretty enough to make a great gift or travel snack, and both the golden kiwi and mango yogurt mochi were amazing. Though leaving the chocolate mochi behind in the guesthouse fridge left a tearful bit of regret... 😭 all the more reason to make Tareudang my first stop next time I'm in Gyeongju and buy everything up! Highly recommend it to anyone heading to Hwangnidang-gil. 👍✨
