Gumi Korean restaurant dinner with spicy octopus and bossam: Imgane
In short
Imgane Nakji Bossam is a Korean restaurant in Jinpyeong-dong, Gumi, Gyeongbuk, where spicy stir-fried octopus and bossam come on one table. On this return visit, I ordered Imgane Hansang, a set with tender bossam, garlic sauce, cut-up octopus, abalone porridge, and seaweed soup. Verdict: a great pick for days when I want both spicy octopus and bossam.

I went back to Imgane Nakji Bossam (임가네낙지보쌈) in Jinpyeong-dong, which I enjoyed so much last time! It is across from Jinpyeong Namju Donghae Jjigae, and since my husband’s office is nearby and I had been craving spicy stir-fried octopus, we returned for dinner after a while 🫶

The address is 43-3 Indong 26-gil, Gumi-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, on the first floor. It is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., closed every Tuesday, and there is parking in front of the restaurant.

A spacious, tidy dining room
I loved how spacious and clean the restaurant was when I visited shortly after it opened, and it was still nicely kept overall when I came back this time. The tables are generously spaced, so you can eat comfortably without worrying much about the tables beside you. The restaurant itself is large too, making it great for a family meal or a visit with a group 👏
Self-fried eggs

There was also a new self-egg station that had not been there on my last visit! Each person can fry one egg themselves, and if you want more, they are ₩500 each.
What comes with Imgane Hansang
Menu

We ordered Imgane Hansang again! I liked that it lets you enjoy a variety of things at once, from stir-fried octopus and bossam to abalone porridge and seaweed soup, without having to agonize over several separate menu items.

The basic side dishes include yeolmu kimchi (young-radish kimchi), seasoned bean sprouts, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), cabbage salad, plus garlic, peppers, and salted hairtail innards that go wonderfully with bossam. And there is the abalone porridge that comes with the set! I remembered enjoying it last time too; it was nutty and smooth, so easy to eat.

A day for stir-fried octopus and bossam together
Stir-fried octopus plus bossam—just look at that generous spread.

The bossam was boiled perfectly, moist and without any unpleasant smell! It was for two people, but the portion was sooooo generous.....!!!! The bossam is good on its own, but my absolute favorite was dipping it generously in the garlic sauce 🥹 The slightly sharp yet sweet garlic sauce and bossam were such a good combination 👍 You have to dip generously—no holding back :)

I just cannot resist making a big wrap with cabbage, meat, shredded radish salad, garlic, peppers, and a little salted hairtail innards.

My husband said we should first try just the octopus over plain white rice before mixing everything together, haha. Once a little of the stir-fried octopus sauce seeped into the rice, it was surprisingly delicious even like this!

There were loads of plump pieces of octopus 🐙 On my previous visit, the octopus came whole, but this time it had been cut up beforehand into easy-to-eat pieces, which made it much more convenient!

Seaweed flakes and sesame oil ready.

And now it was time to mix it up properly! I added bean sprouts to the stir-fried octopus, then plenty of seaweed flakes and sesame oil, and gave it a good mix ✨ This is how you know you have really eaten stir-fried octopus, haha.
I had been so satisfied on my last visit that I came back again this time. On days when I want spicy stir-fried octopus but also want bossam, being able to enjoy both on one table is definitely this place’s charm. The restaurant is spacious and clean too, so I recommend it to anyone looking for a family meal in Jinpyeong-dong or a comfortable place for a Korean meal with a group 🙆♀️💗
