Why I chose a layered cut for heavy long hair in summer
As the weather got hotter, my hair was stuck at an awkward length. It felt stuffy when I blow-dried it, heavy when I tied it up, and hot-looking when I wore it down, so I wanted to change the overall look a little this time. In summer, the thicker and longer your hair is, the hotter it feels, so rather than cutting it very short, I wanted a style that looked light but was easy to manage. That's how I ended up at Uahan Meori (우아한머리) in Wangsimni.
I got a layered cut at Uahan Meori, and in the end I was happy with it: my overly heavy hair felt much lighter and the whole silhouette looked tidier.

Location and parking at Uahan Meori Wangsimni Centras Branch
Uahan Meori is on the 1st floor of Building H in Wangsimni Centras, so it's a decent location if you're looking for a hair salon near Wangsimni or Sangwangsimni.

You can also get there from Sangwangsimni Station, and Centras, Tenshill and Doseon-dong Community Center are nearby, which helps when you're finding your way.
I tend to worry about finding the place when I go somewhere for the first time, but Uahan Meori's directions are fairly detailed, so it wasn't hard to find. If you come by car, the parking instructions are clear too, so they're handy to check beforehand.

They also gave me welcome snacks and a drink when I arrived, which I really appreciated on a hot summer day!!

Consultation: a layered cut that keeps the length and just adds layers
The treatment I got at Uahan Meori this time was a layered cut. My hair has a fair amount of length, but the layers were vague and the weight was concentrated at the bottom, so even after blow-drying it drooped quickly and looked stuffy.

In summer especially, hair bunching around the neck feels much hotter, so this time I wanted a layered cut that wasn't overdone but let my face line show a bit more and made my hair look lighter. I told them the look I wanted during the consultation, and I liked that it wasn't a style that just cuts off lots of hair. They kept the overall length from looking much shorter while adding layers so the hair falls much lighter and more naturally.

How much lighter did my hair get after the layered cut?
The first thing I noticed after the layered cut was that my hair was definitely much lighter.

Even at the same length, adding layers reduced the stuffy feeling, and the ends no longer fall bluntly, so everything looks much fresher. As a college student, I don't usually put a ton of effort into styling for school. Many days I just do a quick blow-dry or tie my hair up.

That's why I liked the layered cut even more: the style looks alive to a certain degree even without styling very hard. It looks much lighter and neater than heavy, drooping hair, and I really felt it's a good summer style.

Salon atmosphere and shampoo area at Uahan Meori
When I walked into Uahan Meori, the whole place felt clean and comfortable, so the first impression was good. Rather than feeling crowded or chaotic, it had a calm atmosphere that's good for a consultation and treatment, so even on my first visit it didn't feel intimidating.

The shampoo area was really clean too~!

When I look for a hair salon in Wangsimni, skill matters, but whether it's a place where I can relax while getting my hair done quietly matters a lot to me too,

and Uahan Meori was satisfying on that front too, without any fuss.

My hair felt heavy and stuffy in the summer heat, so I went for a change of mood, and after getting the layered cut in such a comfortable atmosphere, both my hair and my mind felt much lighter.
If you're looking for a salon near Wangsimni or Sangwangsimni that's not only skilled but also clean and comfortable, it's worth checking out.

The calm feel, rather than a complicated or hectic one, suited a consultation and treatment, and it was a big plus for me, who came for a summer layered cut.
