Daegu sushi restaurant: salmon bowl and kids' tonkatsu at Sushi Naru

Sushi Naru Yeongdae Hospital Main Branch is a Japanese sushi restaurant in Daemyeong-dong, Nam-gu, Daegu, near Yeungnam University Hospital. The writer ate sushi made from freshly cut fish, a salmon rice bowl and a crispy tonkatsu (pork cutlet) that suits children, and was pleased with the fresh ingredients and friendly service. For sushi, rice bowls and family-friendly dishes in one place in Daemyeong-dong, Sushi Naru is worth a return visit.

Gyeongju Korean restaurant: extra mackerel with lemon, Handa Sot

Handa Sot Gyeongju is a Korean restaurant serving pot rice (sotbap) and kiln-grilled fish on Cheomseong-ro, near Hwangnidan-gil in Gyeongju. Dining with a child, the writer ordered galbi (short rib) pot rice and a mackerel set meal, then added one more mackerel. With lemon squeezed over it, the mackerel tasted fresh with no fishy smell, and the child liked the side dishes enough to ask for refills. Handa Sot Gyeongju is a good stop for a mild, home-style meal during a trip to Gyeongju.

Gwangalli café with a kid-care zone and cinnamon French toast: Deokmi

Deokmi Atelier Gwang-an Branch is a dessert café in a house one block back from Gwangalli Beach in Suyeong, Busan. On the last day of a Busan trip, the blogger stopped by with a child after a meal and ordered crème brûlée French toast, mango tiramisu, a mango latte and an iced latte; the cinnamon-scented French toast was the standout, and the heat-weary child's eyes went wide at the mango latte. Deokmi Atelier is a good café for enjoying French toast in Gwangalli with children.

Gwangalli sashimi set for two with a child and corn cheese: Geumrang

Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch (금랑횟집 광안리본점) is a sashimi restaurant with a Gwangan Bridge view on the 6th floor of Marine Rich in Millak-dong, Suyeong-gu, Busan. The writer parked at the nearby Millak The Market lot, booked through Naver and shared the Waterside Hansang set for two with a child, who happily ate the sashimi as well as the corn cheese, steamed abalone and steamed egg. Verdict: if you bring a child to Geumrang Hoetjip, ask for the side dishes to come out early.

Gwangalli BBQ with baby tableware and kids' doenjang: Haean Sutbul

Haean Sutbul Galbi Gwangalli Main Branch is a charcoal-grill galbi restaurant in Suyeong, Busan, right on the Gwangalli beachfront route. After a walk by Gwangalli Beach, the writer's family ate beef galbi (short ribs) for 2 and milmyeon (Busan-style cold wheat noodles), and ordered baby doenjang (soybean paste soup) and seaweed for the child. Haean Sutbul Galbi provides heat-sterilized tableware and baby dishes, so eating with a child was easy. The writer gave it four stars for honest flavor without tourist-area markup.

Irojeong Gumi Geumosan Direct Branch is a newly opened Korean restaurant serving chueotang (loach soup) and black goat dishes near Sangmo Church in the Geumosan area of Gumi, Gyeongbuk. Visiting with a child, the writer ordered the mackerel and boiled pork loach soup set, hanwoo (Korean beef) seaweed soup and pork loin cutlet; the child spent the wait in the kids' play space, and after the meal the writer drank two cups of sipjeondaebotang (ten-herb tonic tea) in the coffee and traditional tea lounge. The wait at Irojeong is long, but the play space and dessert café make it a good fit for family meals with kids.

Daegu sunglasses shop: trying Ray-Ban frame sizes on a small face

Second Face Jukjeon Branch is an eyewear and sunglasses shop on Dalgubeol-daero in Dalseo, Daegu. The visit compares Ray-Ban sunglasses in different frame sizes against a smaller face, and also covers eyeglass frames and contact lens discounts in the same shop. The verdict: if your face is on the small side, trying frames on in person beats guessing online.
