Suwon café above Raw Five: s'mores Oreo cookie, Jung Ji-young
In short
Jung Ji-young Coffee Roasters Sinpung is a café in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, on the 2nd floor of 32 Sinpung-ro, directly above Raw Five Sinpung. After lunch downstairs, the writer ordered the Coconut (7,000 won), an iced Americano (5,500 won) and an American cookie s'mores Oreo (4,500 won). The bottom of the Coconut tasted more like coconut water than the foam on top, and the cookie's chewy marshmallow stood out. For coffee in the same building after a Haenggung-dong meal, Jung Ji-young Coffee Roasters Sinpung is an easy choice.

Walking around Haenggung-dong, there's one name that keeps catching my eye: Jung Ji-young Coffee (정지영커피)! It's on practically every alley, and I kept wondering, "Why is this place so famous?" This time I visited Jung Ji-young Coffee Roasters Sinpung, on the floor right above Raw Five Sinpung, where I'd just had lunch.
I ordered a coconut coffee, an iced Americano and an Oreo cookie. With the coconut, what stayed with me was the flavor from the lower part of the drink more than the foam on top.

What kind of brand is Jung Ji-young Coffee?
According to the official introduction, Jung Ji-young Coffee is a local Suwon coffee brand that started in Haenggung-dong. An interview about the brand says every branch is directly run, with the roasting of the beans and the brewing standards managed in-house.

The Sinpung space: wooden tables, sofas and an old ceiling
Jung Ji-young Coffee Roasters Sinpung is a space with wooden tables, sofas, and the old ceiling structure left visible.

Other visitor reviews also mention the spacious interior and the window seats a lot. Beyond the coffee, I suspect part of the reason people seek out Jung Ji-young Coffee is the fun of checking out each branch's space.

They also sell merchandise??, which was fun to browse.

What I ordered at Jung Ji-young Coffee Roasters Sinpung, and the prices
I ordered these three things. I'm also sharing photos of the menu and of the drinks and cookie together.
- Coconut ₩7,000
- Iced Americano ₩5,500
- American cookie s'mores Oreo ₩4,500

Signature coconut: the lower part is the highlight
The coconut is often introduced as the signature drink at Jung Ji-young Coffee Roasters Sinpung. Other reviews talk about the combination of soft coconut flavor and coffee, but my takeaway was a little different. I tasted more of a coconut-water flavor in the drink below than in the foam on top.

Rather than just saying "it tastes like coconut," it's more accurate to say the impression changed depending on which part I was drinking. I don't know whether coconut water is actually in it, but that's how it tasted to me. If you like that distinctive coconut taste, it could be fun to order it alongside a regular coffee and compare.

Iced Americano: on the smooth side
The iced Americano (₩5,500) at Jung Ji-young Coffee Roasters Sinpung stuck with me as being on the smooth side. Other reviews describe it as nutty or strong, but I liked the smoothness as I drank it. Even with the same coffee, I guess everyone notices a different flavor first.

S'mores Oreo cookie: chewy marshmallow
The American cookie s'mores Oreo (₩4,500) is a chocolate cookie topped with marshmallow and Oreo. The marshmallow is what makes the texture! It adds a chewiness when you bite in, which made it more fun than an ordinary chocolate cookie. If you want a smooth coffee with a chewy dessert, pairing the Americano with this cookie works well.
A café after eating at Raw Five?
Jung Ji-young Coffee Roasters Sinpung was a great spot for continuing on to a café after a meal at Raw Five. I'll remember this visit for the flavor in the lower part of the coconut and the chewiness of the cookie. If you're looking for a Haenggung-dong café, save it on your map and plan it along with your meal route. If you're curious about the signature, go for the coconut; if you want a smooth coffee with a cookie, the Americano is a good choice.
