Quiet weekday window seats at a Suwon café: Jeong Ji-young Coffee

In short

Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch is a first-generation roastery café in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, that fills a whole building from the basement up to a 5th-floor rooftop. On an early weekday lunch visit there were almost no other customers, so the best street-view window seat was free for an iced Americano and the signature coconut latte. For a Haenggung-dong outing, a weekday afternoon at Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters is the right call.

I went to Haenggung-dong last Tuesday! As a Suwon local, this neighborhood always puts me in a good mood, no matter how many times I visit :)

Haenggung-dong seems to be showing up on YouTube a lot lately? Even famous people are coming to visit, when for us Suwon folks it's just such a familiar, obvious place haha

This time our date course was Yomi Udon Gyoza > Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters > Daewang Stationery (to buy squishies), and I'll cover them one by one!

Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters has been rooted in Haenggung-dong for quite a while now, so pretty much every Suwon local probably knows it. There are already 6 locations in Suwon alone, counting the main branch and chain branches — that's a lot!

Address and hours of Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch

  • Address: 42 Sinpung-ro, Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea
  • Hours: Daily 12:00–22:00
  • Feature: A brand flagship space using the entire building (basement to 5th-floor rooftop)

As I mentioned, Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters is a first-generation café in Haenggung-dong and a representative brand that has helped shape and lead Suwon's local coffee culture.

What is on each floor, from the basement to the rooftop?

The Haenggung Main Branch uses the entire building for coffee-related spaces —

  • B1: A counter and coffee bar where you order and browse the flashy goods
  • 1F: A roasting room where beans are roasted on site
  • 2F & 4F: Café seating full of atmosphere
  • 3F: A barista academy and education space
  • 5F: An open rooftop with a sweeping view over Haenggung-dong

To order, you first need to head down to the basement level.

You can only order at the basement level, and as soon as you walk in, the café's goods, beans, and self-produced props are on display, so the counter is barely visible hahaha. Walk in a bit further and you'll finally see the menu.

We ordered one iced Americano and the signature 'coconut latte.'

Desserts are also displayed on one side — they had cakes and sandos too — but since we'd just come from eating udon, we just stuck to coffee, sadly.

Oh, by the way, it's a no-kids zone!

The mood at Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters, and how the coconut latte tastes

Everyone, you absolutely have to go to Haenggung-dong on a weekday. It was an early lunch hour on a weekday, so there was no one around and we got to sit in a great seat! (Unimaginable on a weekend...)

Dark, hip café interior with wood-tone furniture
Interior with café seating and lighting
Café space with tables by the window

The café's atmosphere is really, really nice. Overall it's dark and hip, but the furniture and interior add wood tones so it doesn't feel cold — there's a warm feeling to it. A space I think anyone, of any age, would like.

With no one around, we got to sit in the spot with the best view,, love it

Iced Americano and coconut latte on the table

The iced Americano had a nice balance of acidity and nuttiness, and the coconut latte was super sweet from the coconut cream, so I'd recommend it to anyone who likes sweet drinks. If your blood sugar's low or you just ate something salty, go for the coconut one!

The view from our seat..🏙️ Pretty, right? On weekends, that street is packed with young people... Just want to say it again: come to Haenggung-dong on a weekday‼️

Photos come out looking atmospheric no matter where you shoot, so we took some product shots too~

Cleanup was easy — you just leave everything like this :)
