Why I picked Daesin Ttangkong-ppang as my Namdaemun Market snack
Daesin Ttangkong-ppang Namdaemun Market branch (대신땅콩빵) is a peanut bread and egg bread shop I stopped at while wandering Namdaemun Market, wondering what I could snack on. There's so much street food in Namdaemun Market, right? haha

The nutty smell of peanut bread and the soft smell of egg bread were drifting out, and I just couldn't walk past.

Prices: 45 pieces for ₩6,000, 80 pieces for ₩10,000
At Daesin I bought 45 peanut breads for ₩6,000 and 2 egg breads for ₩4,000.

The friend who came with me bought 80 peanut breads for ₩10,000. My 45 came in a bag, while her 80 came in a box. If you plan to buy a lot, the packaging is worth keeping in mind.

How does it taste? Cracker-crisp texture
They say Daesin makes its own batter, so the bread is crisp yet moist. And honestly, it was crispiness itself haha

It wasn't the dry, throat-clogging peanut bread you might picture; it was crisp like a cracker. You could bite into bits of peanut, and the outside was golden while the inside stayed soft. The peanut flavor was mildly nutty and the sweetness just right, perfect as a snack. The lighter texture compared with other peanut bread was my favorite part.
Loved by my peanut-fan husband, and by me, who's not that into peanuts
My husband, who loves peanuts, said it was delicious and couldn't stop reaching for more lol He even said it's good cold and kept grabbing them 😂
I honestly don't love peanuts that much, but I enjoyed it too. The crisp, light texture made it easy to eat without feeling heavy.
Egg bread: moist, soft-set style, 2 for ₩4,000
The egg bread (gyeran-ppang, a small sweet loaf baked with a whole egg) was 2 pieces for ₩4,000. I only meant to buy peanut bread, but I picked up egg bread too.

The egg didn't feel fully cooked through; it was moist and soft, like a soft-set egg. It was slightly salty, so it was nice and plain to eat.

It had a different charm from the crispy peanut bread. With the egg inside, it felt like a more filling snack too :)

Buying both peanut bread and egg bread was fun, since the texture and taste differ and you can pick whichever you feel like.
Storing leftovers: freeze them for icy peanut bread
They say you can freeze the peanut bread and eat it as icy peanut bread, and that's tasty too.

You can also warm it in a microwave or air fryer before eating, so it's a good one to buy plenty of and keep at home.

I brought the leftovers home and shared them with my family, and they were still good after cooling down haha When you wander Namdaemun Market you end up buying a snack here and there. Eating on the spot is great, but taking it home to eat was nice too.
The peanut smoothie: next time for sure
Next to the shop they were also selling a ₩2,500 peanut smoothie. The color and the fact that I'd never seen it before made me curious about the taste haha
It's described as a creamy peanut butter smoothie with no sugar and no caffeine, and I imagined a smooth, rich peanut flavor. ₩2,500 also looked easy on the wallet. It was cold that day so I didn't try it, but I'll definitely have it next time.
I was glad I took peanut bread and egg bread home after wandering Namdaemun Market haha Daesin was a hit with my peanut-loving husband, and with me, who usually isn't a big peanut fan! If you're looking for a snack to eat in Namdaemun Market or a takeaway treat, stop by haha
