What kind of café is Siyudang in Pungse, Cheonan?

Siyudang (시유당) is a large bakery café in Pungse-myeon, Cheonan, known for both its drinks and its bread. I went on a lovely sunny day.

There is parking right in front of the café, so it's easy to pull in. The interior you see as soon as you walk through the front door instantly puts you in a good mood.

It gets crowded on weekends, so go early, pick your bread, and pick your seat, and then enjoy it all!

The 1st floor at Siyudang is where you order, while the 2nd and 3rd floors are big open spaces with seats of all different kinds scattered freely around.

Depending on who you come with, you can choose floor seating or regular seating, whichever you like and find comfortable. Each has its own charm.

The 1st floor has a self-service packing station and a microwave, so you can freely warm up your bread or pack it to go.

The 2nd floor had no packing station, but it has a water dispenser with both cold and hot water, and if you order a meal you can get pickles there without going all the way down to the 1st floor.

When should you go to Siyudang for the most bread choices?

Siyudang had lots of tasty bread ready. But even on a weekday, I went in the afternoon and some breads were already sold out.

There's a wide variety, so you can choose to suit your taste, and lots of customers were taking bread to go, so I picked some too.

Siyudang's signature: mountain-shaped bread modeled on Taehaksan

Siyudang's own signature bread was a mountain-shaped loaf, something I'd never seen anywhere else.

Siyudang is near Taehaksan, and bread shaped after the mountain's peaks was really impressive.

There were also lots of other bakery items, like salt bread and croissants made in all sorts of combinations.

At Siyudang you can also try a nostalgic lucky-draw board. Taking a moment to join the review event and try your luck can be a small everyday joy.

Brunch, bread and drinks I ordered at Siyudang

A whole spread of bread came out. I ordered one simple brunch dish plus bread so I could taste a bit of everything. It all looked so appetizing.

Coffee and cup bingsu

For drinks I tried coffee and cup bingsu (shaved ice dessert). When the weather is a little hot, bingsu cools you down right to the core, so it tastes even better.

Think of Siyudang's brunch as a salad piled on top of bread. The plump shrimp and fresh vegetables go together well, and eaten with the bread it's really filling.

Mocha bun, egg tart and garlic bread

I like mocha buns, so I picked one, and from the first bite the nutty flavor and coffee aroma filled my mouth and made me happy.

The egg tart was true to the basics and went perfectly with coffee. The garlic bread takes away the guilt, since you're eating flour but telling yourself the garlic keeps you healthy... bread, haha.

What does the mountain-shaped Danpungbong taste like?

The mountain-shaped bread I ordered is called Danpungbong (단풍봉). It has Lotus (biscoff) on top and cream inside, so you taste nutty richness the whole way through.

There are so many kinds that next time I want to try other breads. It's a bread with real character, so I think it would make a good gift too.

Siyudang, a large brunch café at Taehaksan in Pungse, Cheonan, has a different charm on each floor, and with so many seats it was convenient.
