I visited Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Dongtan Branch near Dongtan Station. Here's what I found — a 16,900-won all-you-can-eat course covering cypress steam, shabu-shabu, beef, spring rolls, knife-cut noodles and porridge, along with my honest experience eating through it.
I went looking for a place in Dongtan where I could get cypress-steamed dishes and shabu-shabu in one sitting. This time I visited Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Dongtan Branch (편백회관 동탄점)!

Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Dongtan Branch runs as an all-you-can-eat course covering cypress steam, shabu-shabu, beef, spring rolls, knife-cut noodles and porridge, all in one visit. At first we thought the cypress steam was the main event, but as we kept eating... wait, there's still more? Haha. We had shabu-shabu, then noodles, and walked out having carefully made ourselves porridge at the end too. The seating is pretty spacious, so it could be worth considering for a Dongtan lunch gathering or a family meal out.
Where is Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Dongtan Branch, and what are the hours?
Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Dongtan Branch is on the 2nd floor of Grand Via Star, 446 Dongtan-daero, Dongtan-gu, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It's open daily from 11:00 to 22:00, with last order at 20:30.
It's about 978m from Dongtan Station Exit 2, and about 5 minutes toward the lake from Dongtan Station Lotte Department Store. The store signage I checked noted the restaurant would be closed on September 25, 2026 for Chuseok, so keep that in mind if you're planning a holiday visit.
How big is the restaurant, and is there a kids' play area?
The store signage described seating for about 120 people as a family dining space, along with play facilities for kids.

Since it runs as an all-you-can-eat course where each person can bring back dishes to their own taste, it looked relatively easy to manage menu choices even when visiting with a group. So if you're looking for a place for a family meal or a Dongtan lunch gathering with several people, this setup is worth considering.
There was even a kids' play area for little ones to play in!! Haha, it seemed like a nice spot for family gatherings too >_<
What comes with the 16,900-won unlimited course?
What stood out at Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Dongtan Branch was really the range of menus you can enjoy in one sitting.

Per the store signage, the all-you-can-eat course is 16,900 won, covering cypress steam + shabu-shabu + beef + spring rolls + knife-cut noodles + porridge together.

There's also a salad bar included, so if you pile too much onto your plate early on, you might end up quite full by the later stages haha. Because seriously, there's more coming the whole way through.
First course: cypress-steamed pork and vegetables
First we tried the cypress steam.

Meat and vegetables came together, so it was easy to mix and match combinations from the start. There's that distinctive moist texture from the cypress steaming, and pairing meat with vegetables instead of eating meat alone...

...made it a light way to start. And the best part is it doesn't end there haha. Even while eating cypress steam, shabu-shabu was waiting, so you have to pace your appetite.
Shabu-shabu with a half bonito, half doenjang broth
After the cypress steam came the real shabu-shabu time in Dongtan! We put vegetables, mushrooms and meat into the broth and simmered it away.

Picking up a piece of meat with enoki mushrooms, vegetables and noodles all at once — that combo was great.

After eating meat, the broth keeps pulling out more flavor from the vegetables and meat, right? So the later it gets, the richer the broth feels! We kept adding things in and ate our way through it properly haha. I chose half bonito broth plus half doenjang broth.
Vietnamese-style wraps between the courses
Since spring rolls could be eaten alongside the shabu-shabu, they were good to mix in between bites. You can combine whatever vegetables you like, so it was far less repetitive than eating just meat the whole time.
There were several sauces prepared too, so it was fun dipping differently each time. Cypress steam, then shabu-shabu, then making spring rolls — how many menus am I eating in one sitting haha. The lineup felt pretty substantial.
Knife-cut noodles cooked in the deepened broth
Once you've had a decent amount of meat and vegetables, it's time for some carbs.

They put knife-cut noodles into the broth and simmered them. Since the broth had already been simmered with meat and vegetables several times over, the noodles really soaked up the flavor once they went in. Picking up the chewy noodles together with enoki mushrooms, vegetables and meat—

—was a flavor you couldn't just skip past haha. By this point we were saying, 'Okay, that's really it, right?' It wasn't.
Finishing with porridge made from the leftover broth

After the noodles, they made porridge with the leftover broth, adding rice and dried seaweed flakes.

Then a plop of egg on top! They simmered it until the rice had soaked up plenty of broth, mixed in a bit of vegetables, and added enoki mushrooms too for some extra bite — that was nice.
You can probably tell from the photos: what started as rice grains you could clearly see gradually turned, as it soaked up the broth, into a proper porridge look haha.
After saying we were already full from the cypress steam, shabu-shabu and noodles... we still ended up scooping up the porridge to the end. Am I the only one who feels like a shabu-shabu meal isn't complete without fried rice or porridge at the end? Haha.
Dessert: the misugaru slushie
After finishing even the porridge, I noticed a misugaru (roasted grain powder) slushie on one side of the restaurant.

It said it was inspired by the heart of a grandmother mixing misugaru for her grandchild after a meal. There was also an explanation that it drew on the spirit of preparing food for family back when even a single grain of rice was precious — which made me understand why Pyeonbaek Hoegwan bothered with this kind of dessert. After eating meat and hot shabu-shabu until full, having something cold and refreshing at the end really felt like the meal was complete!
Is the Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Dongtan course worth it?
Starting with cypress steam and moving through shabu-shabu, noodles and porridge — an all-you-can-eat course that really requires pacing your appetite haha.
We went to Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Dongtan Branch meaning to just try the cypress steam, and ended up eating shabu-shabu, making spring rolls, and finishing with noodles and porridge haha. What stuck with me most was that this isn't a buffet where you keep eating one thing — you keep switching menus, from cypress steam to shabu-shabu to noodles to porridge.
For my partner and me, who both love eating a bit of everything, this was a lineup that let us eat our way through carefully to the very end. If you've been looking for cypress steam or shabu-shabu in Dongtan, or need a place to eat with a group, take a look at the menu lineup and location!
