Ganghan Sushi Cheonan Buldang Branch (강한초밥 천안불당점) is a sushi restaurant on the 1st floor of 67-12 Buldang21-ro, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan, in the Sinbuldang neighborhood. It's open from 11:00 to 22:00 with last order at 21:30, and closed on Mondays.

Hi everyone :) Today I visited Ganghan Sushi, a Cheonan sushi restaurant I was really happy with because everything came out so clean and fresh. It has no break time, so it's a Sinbuldang sushi spot you can drop into whenever.

Weekend evening wait list and where to park at First Plaza

We arrived on a weekend evening and had to wait! Since the food comes out clean and tastes great too, of course a lot of people show up.

If you need to wait, you go inside and write your name on the wait list. Just your name and party size — then wait outside and they'll call you.

Parking is available in the building! You can use First Plaza's basement levels 1 and 2, and on the way out just self-register your parking on the tablet by the door.

How small is the dining room at Ganghan Sushi?

On a weekend evening, Ganghan Sushi was packed with families and couples! It's such a fresh, clean Cheonan sushi restaurant that I couldn't really get good interior shots. The cozy interior has 4 tables for 2 and 2 tables for 4.

The day we visited there was a reservation group, so their sushi all came out at once — the visual was incredible 👍👍👍

Ordering by tablet and the table setup

Each table has a tablet PC where you can order and pay all at once. After some deliberating, we ordered one Ganghan Sushi set per person plus 2 extra pieces of jumbo flounder belly, then waited.

On the table, they set out pickled radish, ginger, soy sauce, and even a palate-cleansing candy.

There's a drawer beside the table with whatever tableware you need, so check that out — we put out our pickled radish and soy sauce there.

Included sides: seafood croquette, miso soup and udon

The chewy noodles with fish cake and fried tofu made for a really satisfying, clean bowl of udon! Under the croquette packed with seafood there's a cabbage salad for a crunchy bite~

How do the Ganghan Sushi set and jumbo flounder belly taste?

Our Ganghan Sushi set and the jumbo flounder belly arrived and filled the whole table. The Ganghan Sushi set is the restaurant's namesake dish, described as their most solid, fundamentals-driven menu — and I could see why it's the signature. Overall it was fresh, and this really is a clean Cheonan sushi restaurant.

Jumbo Wando flounder with aged kimchi

Just looking at this jumbo flounder from Wando you can tell it's chewy 🧡 Ganghan Sushi doesn't put wasabi in the sushi itself, so they give it to you separately on the side! Add as much as you like, and there's also washed aged kimchi served — it's a perfect match with the flounder, so make sure to eat them together!!!

The castella-style egg was soft and the Japanese-style fried tofu sushi was nicely salty. I liked that most pieces had less rice than usual too.

Thick-cut raw salmon

The top-grade raw salmon was thick-cut and had absolutely no fishy taste. It went really well with the onion and sauce on top — I wanted to just order a plate of raw salmon alone by the end!

The squid that surprised me most

The squid that surprised me most.. 👏👏👏 rich yet chewy, genuinely beyond my expectations — I was shocked. I don't even really like squid, but this was that good.. Definitely remember the squid here!!

Gamtae (seaweed) shrimp and soy-marinated shrimp

Raw shrimp wrapped in gamtae (seaweed) and soy sauce-marinated shrimp aged for 24 hours! Shrimp sushi with a great popping texture 🙂 The gamtae shrimp is nice with a little wasabi on top, and the soy sauce shrimp isn't too salty, so it's good eaten on its own too!

And finally, the extra jumbo flounder belly we added~ I personally love the belly part of flounder. Topped with the washed aged kimchi they give you, it cuts the richness perfectly, and it's a great way to finish and clean your palate~

These days a lot of restaurants have break times, which makes it awkward to eat a late lunch or early dinner, but Ganghan Sushi in Sinbuldang has no break time, so you can drop in and eat whenever. It's a fresh, clean Cheonan sushi restaurant, and with parking available right in the building, it's a really convenient Sinbuldang sushi spot to visit. The overall quality is high and the food is delicious, so give Ganghan Sushi in Sinbuldang a try ✨
