Jeonpo, Busan burger spot with a toddler: cheese fries at Dufftown

There are so many good burger spots in Jeonpo-dong that I've been working my way through them one by one. This time I visited Dufftown, a sponsored visit.

Honestly, when I visit somewhere sponsored, I try to look at it a bit more objectively than usual. But after eating here, we actually said to each other, "let's come back and pay out of our own pocket next time."

I went with my 35-month-old, and she ate much better than I expected. The vibe of the place was great too, and since it's the American-style burger I personally love, I was pretty satisfied.

Dufftown in Jeonpo-dong: the space and where to park

Dufftown is located at 25 Seojeon-ro 68beon-gil, Busanjin-gu, Busan, South Korea. We parked at the Jeonpo Station public parking lot and walked over.

Jeonpo-dong has so many good restaurants tucked into its alleys that parking can be a bit of a hassle if you drive, so we parked at the public lot and walked. The moment we walked in, what struck me first was how stylish the interior was.

There are lots of pretty cafés and shops popping up in Jeonpo these days, but this place had exactly the vibe of an American burger joint, so I was already excited before the food even arrived. And since I was going with my 35-month-old, I prefer places that are comfortable to eat in rather than places that are just quiet and pretty — in that sense, it was an easy place to visit.

What we ordered at Dufftown Burger

That day we ordered the Dufftown & Dancing Burger and the Mexico Town Burger, and picked cheese fries and honey garlic fries as sides.

We ordered cola to drink, and I liked that it came with ice.

Sipping cold cola while eating a burger seems like such a small thing, but it's actually pretty important, right?

But here's where we messed up our order a bit. We originally wanted honey garlic sweet potato fries, but ended up ordering two regular fries instead, and I only realized later, "wait, we didn't order the sweet potato one." It seems the owner overheard me saying this, because he kindly gave us a small taste of the honey garlic fries.

I really appreciated this small gesture.

He could have easily just let it go without saying anything, but the fact that he made sure we could at least taste the dish I'd wanted felt really thoughtful.

How does the Dufftown & Dancing Burger taste?

First we tried the signature Dufftown & Dancing Burger.

From the moment it arrived, I liked how thick the patty looked, and after one bite I understood exactly why I love American-style burgers. The patty was thick but not overly salty or intense — the umami flavor from the meat itself was really good. With handmade burgers, sometimes a super thick patty overwhelms the other ingredients, or the sauce is too strong and makes everything taste overly aggressive, but at Dufftown, the patty, vegetables, and sauce all came together nicely. There was fresh lettuce of just the right thickness to balance out the heaviness of the meat, and the sauce wasn't overly sweet or salty either. On top of that, the fried egg added a softness that made the whole bite come together perfectly.

Most of all, I loved that you could really taste the meat in the patty. It was rustic in a way that reminded me of burgers I'd had in North America, with every individual ingredient's flavor coming through — personally, I was really satisfied.

The Mexico Town Burger had a different kind of charm from the Dufftown & Dancing Burger. Ordering both and sharing them meant the flavors were distinct enough that we never got bored, and it made me want to try other menu items on our next visit.

Can a 35-month-old eat here? What my child ate

The biggest surprise of the day was Ruda, my daughter. She's not usually great at eating burgers, but that day she ate quite well. Eating out with a 35-month-old, there isn't always a suitable menu item for a toddler, but she ate well that day, which let me relax and enjoy my own meal.

The fries themselves came out perfectly crispy, so between bites of burger and fries, my hand kept reaching back for more. And I also got to taste the honey garlic fries I mentioned earlier — sweet with a salty edge, and honestly pretty delicious. Since that was the dish I'd originally wanted, being able to at least taste it thanks to the owner made it all the more memorable.

I really appreciated this kind of small consideration. The taste of the food matters, but the atmosphere created by the staff or owner's attentiveness when you visit in person is one of the reasons you come back to a restaurant. At Dufftown, both the food and the overall vibe of the place came together well, so I got to spend the meal in a genuinely good mood.

Is Dufftown in Jeonpo worth a second visit?

Handmade burgers tend to be pricier than regular burgers, so taste matters, but so does the price. Dufftown's prices were less of a burden than I'd expected, and considering the flavor and overall satisfaction, I felt it was decent value for money. In particular, the patty was thick yet had a real meaty umami flavor, and the fresh vegetables, sauce, and fried egg all came together well.

It wasn't a burger that tasted good just because the sauce was strong — it felt like a burger where the patty itself was genuinely delicious.

I think I was even more satisfied because I personally love this kind of American burger style. It was rustic enough to remind me of burgers I'd had in the US, with the ingredients' individual flavors intact, yet the overall balance in each bite worked really well.

Visiting with my 35-month-old, she ate well, the atmosphere was great, and the food was satisfying, so this meal was pretty successful. Most of all, even though this was a sponsored visit, honestly, I felt like I'd want to come back and pay out of my own pocket next time I'm in Jeonpo-dong.

If you're looking for a place with a good atmosphere in Jeonpo-dong and want a proper American-style burger, Dufftown is worth a visit. If you love handmade burgers like I do, you'll likely be satisfied starting with the patty alone, and it's also a good Jeonpo-dong spot for those who want to eat comfortably with kids.
