A Sangin-dong brunch café: Otter Rabbit House

Why we went to Otter Rabbit House for cherry bingsu in a Daegu heatwave
Otter Rabbit House is a brunch café tucked into an alley in Sangin-dong, Daegu, and it sells cherry bingsu, which is rare, so I went with a friend. It was one of those scorching days, over 35°C for days on end, the famous "Daeprica" weather (Daegu + Africa). On days like this, nothing sounds better than cold bingsu. We were wondering where to go and ended up at Otter Rabbit House, a little European-feeling spot in a Sangin-dong alley.
My friend loves cherries and said places selling cherry bingsu are hard to find and she really wanted to go, so that's how we ended up here. It's also close to Woelgwang Waterside Park, so it's a popular Woelgwang Waterside Park brunch café and Sangin-dong brunch café for stopping by after a walk.

European-style exterior in a Sangin-dong alley
Since it sits inside a Sangin-dong alley, it felt like discovering a hidden café. Even from far away the charming exterior catches your eye, with the feel of a brunch café in a small European village.
It's cozy and warm rather than flashy, so I was already looking forward to it before opening the door. There are lots of pretty photo spots, so the entrance alone is great for pictures.

What is the interior of Otter Rabbit House like?

Inside, Otter Rabbit House carries the European feel of the exterior through wood-toned interiors and cute little props. The wood tones and small decorations work together to create a comfortable atmosphere.

Soft natural light comes in at the window seats, so we could relax even more. It's a nice space for chatting with friends or reading alone. Many guests were enjoying brunch dishes and desserts together, and I could see why it's such a popular Sangin-dong brunch café.
What's on the Otter Rabbit House menu?

Otter Rabbit House has drinks, brunch, cherry bingsu and even wine, so you can have a meal and dessert together. As a brunch café where you can do both, the menu is varied.

The brunch menu is varied too. There are fresh salads, sandwiches, paninis, open toast and more, light but filling, enough for a proper meal. Add a coffee or an ade and it's an even more satisfying brunch, so it seems a good choice for anyone looking for a Woelgwang Waterside Park brunch café or Sangin-dong brunch café.

Bread display on an afternoon visit
When we went in the afternoon, there wasn't a huge amount of bread, but there were still several kinds.

How was the cherry bingsu at Otter Rabbit House?

The cherry bingsu at Otter Rabbit House is its signature summer menu item: soft milk bingsu generously topped with fresh cherries. It's a rare cherry bingsu, sweet and tart at the same time. The soft milk ice and cherries go together so well that it's one of the most popular summer menu items.
The first thing that caught my eye was the fresh cherries covering the top. With so many piled on, it looked like a healthy dessert just by looking at it.

The sweet-tart cherries and soft milk ice were a really good match, and the coolness made us forget the hot weather in one go.

Since it's not a common menu item, it felt extra special, and if you like cherries, I really recommend trying it once.
The bread we had with the cherry bingsu
The bread we ordered with the cherry bingsu was satisfying too. We had eaten a meal a while before and were a little peckish, and the soft, freshly baked-seeming texture went well with the bingsu. The combination of sweet dessert and plain bread was surprisingly good, which made it even more enjoyable.

Is Otter Rabbit House worth it? Final verdict
If you're looking for a cool dessert in the sweltering summer, Otter Rabbit House was a very satisfying choice. The biggest draw was being able to try the rare cherry bingsu, and with the cozy European atmosphere on top, it was a perfect place to spend a relaxed time with a friend.
If you're looking for a Woelgwang Waterside Park brunch café or Sangin-dong brunch café, dropping in after a walk for cool cherry bingsu and brunch would make a good outing.
