Hapjeong roastery café, Peach Punch then tiramisu: Central Site

In short

Central Site Hapjeong is a coffee roastery café in Mapo, Seoul, about a 5-minute walk from Hapjeong Station Exit 2, where you choose your own beans for brewed coffee and pets are welcome. The writer tried the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Chelbesa Washed and the Colombia Quebraditas Gesha Washed Peach Punch with a classic tiramisu, and fell for the Peach Punch's juicy aroma and the dark chocolate topping on the tiramisu. Central Site Hapjeong is a good pick for days when you want properly good coffee more than a pretty setting.

I visited Central Site (Centralsite Coffee Roasters Hapjeong), a place where the coffee is really good!

A corner roastery café in an alley near Hapjeong Station

Central Site Hapjeong is pretty close to Hapjeong Station, so I got there quickly. It sits on an alley corner, so the mood is a little different from the busy main street. Thanks to the light coming through the big glass windows, the space felt quite open during the day.

How do you choose beans at Central Site Hapjeong?

The heart of Central Site Hapjeong is, of course, the coffee. What caught my eye most was that you can pick your own beans.

If you tell them whether you like bright, acidic coffee or nutty, heavy coffee, they help you choose, and I found that process quite fun. It feels like you're choosing even a single cup of coffee a bit more properly.

Central Site has regular coffee too, but if it's your first visit, I'd recommend trying the brewed coffee! Depending on the beans, the differences can come through quite clearly: aromas reminiscent of flowers or fruit, a fresh acidity, a subtle sweetness.

Chelbesa Washed vs Gesha Peach Punch: how did they taste?

What I ordered at Central Site Hapjeong that day was two brewed coffees and one tiramisu.

  • Ethiopia Nordic Approach Yirgacheffe Chelbesa Washed
  • Colombia Quebradita Gesha Washed Peach Punch
  • Classic tiramisu

The Ethiopia Nordic Approach Yirgacheffe Chelbesa Washed is the textbook coffee that even beginners can enjoy without any trouble.

The Colombia Quebradita Gesha Washed Peach Punch had fruity, juicy aromas bursting out everywhere. Total favorite for me 👈

When I come to a café, whether I'm chatting or working, I can never focus on the coffee, but today I'm focusing on nothing but the coffee. I'm enjoying an interesting flavor with every single sip.

Central Site's classic tiramisu: a genuinely great tiramisu

I honestly can't remember the last time I had a tiramisu I thought was delicious... it's all hazy... But I found it at Central Site. My tiramisu ♥️♥️♥️

Classic tiramisu at Central Site Hapjeong

Central Site's classic tiramisu has cream layered between moist sponge, with the texture of dark chocolate on top. It's a sweet, soft tiramisu, so it goes well with brewed coffee that has a distinct aroma.

Brewed coffee and tiramisu: which should you have first?

For the first few sips, please drink only the brewed coffee. The sweetness of the tiramisu can cover up the coffee's delicate aroma, so first take in the coffee's aroma and taste fully, then!! One bite of the rich, sweet tiramisu that melts in your mouth🩷 I'm hooked...!!!

When is Central Site Hapjeong worth visiting?

There are so many cafés in Hapjeong, but on a day when you think, "today I want to drink coffee properly, not just soak up the vibe," I recommend Central Site. Picking your own beans, smelling them, then slowly drinking the brewed coffee, the whole process 👍

Central Site Hapjeong, a coffee-focused roastery café

These days, when cafés all start to feel alike, a coffee-focused roastery café like this is actually the one that stays in my memory. If I had a coffee date in Hapjeong, I'd definitely stop by again at least once!
