Where to cure a hangover in Ingye-dong the day after a company dinner: Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk
The day after a company dinner, I went looking for a hangover meal in Ingye-dong, Suwon, and ended up at Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk (얼큰한뼈해장국) Suwon Ingye Branch. After a busy day and a night out, of course you crave something hot and spicy to settle your stomach.

When I think of something filling that also deals with a hangover, spicy bone soup (ppyeo haejangguk, pork bone hangover soup) is always near the top of the list, so today I'm introducing one meal spot in Ingye-dong.

The broth was rich and kick-in-the-throat spicy, and the bones had lots of meat on them, so this is a story about a place where you can eat your fill~
Where is Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch, and where do you park?
Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch is on the ground floor of a building at 52 Gyeongsu-daero 466beon-gil, Paldal-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi. It is around City Hall Station in central Suwon, so it was really easy to reach by public transport. If you come by car like me, you can use the building's car park, which offers free parking, so there's no stress about it.

Is Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk in Ingye-dong okay for eating alone?
The Ingye Branch was an easy place to eat alone. The first thing I noticed on entering was how neat and tidy the restaurant was, and there was seating guidance for solo diners too. Three people were actually eating alone while I was there~

About 10 minutes after ordering, with side dishes refilled at the self-serve bar
I sat down and ordered the special (teuk) bone soup as my main. Since cooking starts the moment you order, I waited about 10 minutes, and the side dishes were served while I waited. If you run short while eating, you can go to the self-serve bar and bring more.

I was a lot thirstier than expected, so I also ordered a Coca-Cola, which I don't usually drink. On a day when you're this thirsty, gulping down an ice-cold cola feels really refreshing.

How many bones come in the special-size bone soup?
The special bone soup at Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk had 4 large bones and 1 small bone. After a short wait, the special-size bowl came out, and since it's the main menu item, the earthenware pot (ttukbaegi) for the special size was huge, quite different from the regular one.

There was really a lot of meat on those 4 large bones and 1 small bone, and the broth was spicy and delicious, so it made for a really good meal.
Spice adjustable in 4 levels
At Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk you can choose the spice level in 4 steps, so just order the heat that suits your own taste~

An Ingye-dong bone soup spot full of lunchtime hangover customers
Lots of people came for a hangover lunch, and I saw two tables who came to cure their hangovers, fell for the spicy broth, and ordered soju again. If I hadn't been working, I'd have wondered about ordering a bottle myself, but since it was a work day, I boldly passed~~

Half broth, half meat: how much meat is in the special bone soup?
You can see in the photo, right? There's so much meat! Ordering the special size, there were really so many bones that I felt I ate more meat than when I have gamjatang (pork bone stew)~

I usually like to strip one bone and eat just the pure meat, then pull the meat off the rest, drop it into the soup, add rice and eat it all together. The meat was so generous that it truly felt like half broth, half meat.

Personally, I love bone hangover soup. With tender meat and a spicy yet clean broth, I feel like I could eat it three meals a day, and I remember eating it really often. I have memories of bringing it home in a takeout container, keeping it in a pot, and eating it for 2 to 3 days. Even as an adult, it's a dish I rely on in all kinds of ways, for hangovers and for regular meals~

How was the side dish, steamed dumplings?
The steamed dumplings (jjin mandu) I tried as a side at Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk were nicely moist and tasty.
