Pirate roulette and dawn games at Uu, a solo bar near Konkuk, Seoul

In short

Uu is a solo drinking bar on the third floor of a building near Exit 2 of Konkuk University Station in Gwangjin, Seoul. Visiting alone, the writer played the Yuyu game, the crocodile game and pirate roulette, tried the ₩8,000 no-lose raffle, and carried on until dawn with a samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) second round with people from the same table. Uu greets every first-time guest by name, so drinking alone here never feels awkward.

Where is Uu, and what are its hours?

I visited Uu, a brand new solo drinking bar near Konkuk! It's on the 3rd floor at 8-7 Neungdong-ro 11-gil, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, and pretty close to Exit 2 of Konkuk University Station, so it was easy to find. There's an elevator too, so getting up was no hassle at all :) Open 8pm to 3am, and until 5am on Fridays and Saturdays, so it's a great solo drinking bar in Konkuk, Seoul for late-night hangouts ෆ ෆ

What Uu feels like after touring other solo drinking bars

Doing the rounds of solo drinking bars naturally makes you compare them, and in the end it's the memory you make that day that decides whether you'll come back. Even a great-looking place won't get a repeat visit if the atmosphere feels awkward or uncomfortable, but from Konkuk to Gunja to Sangsu, every branch of Uu has left me having a good time :) The owner and staff are kind, and the other guests tend to be gentle too, so it's easy to blend in even on your first visit — a great solo drinking bar in Konkuk, Seoul!

Window-side table at Uu filled with guests

On the day I visited, the window-side tables were fully booked, and new guests kept coming in and out right up until closing, so the tables kept turning over steadily. The ages ranged widely too, from twenty-year-olds to people in their early-to-mid twenties and even early thirties, but everyone mixed comfortably and had fun together regardless of age gap, which I really liked :)

QR ordering and the seat-reveal feature at Uu

You order via QR code, and on your first visit you get to pick your reason for coming, plus there's a seat-reveal feature that lets other guests see where you're sitting. On top of that there are quests, various board games, and the no-lose raffle to play with, so there's plenty to do even if you just walk in alone — a genuinely fun solo drinking bar in Konkuk, Seoul, this Uu place!

Free anju at Uu: chicken drumstick, caramel popcorn and pretzels

Most solo drinking bars only give you a chicken drumstick as the free anju (side snack), but at Uu in Konkuk, Seoul, they also give you sweet caramel popcorn and pretzels, so my hand kept reaching back for more >.< There was hand cream at the table too, so I could wash my hands and use it right away, and unlike a lot of places where water is self-serve and you have to keep getting up to refill, Uu had paper cups and water bottles at every table — really convenient if you like drinking plenty of water while you drink.

Cinnamon orange anju and a lemonade

I ordered my favorite anju at Uu, cinnamon orange, along with a lemonade, but the free snacks were so good that day that I demolished the popcorn and pretzels before the anju ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ Chicken drumstick, popcorn, and pretzel combo... unbeatable ㅜ

Why first-time guests at Uu never get left out

And here's another reason I love Uu! Whenever a first-time guest sits down, the staff always give them a welcome greeting! It might sound like nothing, but it naturally breaks the ice, so it's not a room where only the already-friendly groups chat among themselves — even a first-timer can join the conversation naturally without feeling left out.

Gets me every time I watch this ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Yuyu game, crocodile game and pirate roulette

After chatting a lot early on, we started playing games and had a blast ㅋㅋㅋ We played the Yuyu game with drinks on the line, and I got picked out of curiosity — turns out I was voted as the type who'd probably ghost everyone the day they got a partner (?) ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

After that we did the heart-pounding crocodile game and pirate roulette too — for pirate roulette, I'd stuck in almost every sword and still didn't get caught, so it was hilarious ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Is the ₩8,000 no-lose raffle worth it?

And you can't skip Uu's no-lose raffle! For ₩8,000 a game, even landing in 5th (last) place gets you a lemon drop shot or a glass of vodka :) Since the cheapest vodka in the house is ₩9,000 a glass, just playing the raffle basically breaks even! You get to enjoy the game and get a drink out of it too — total win-win ~~~~

The owner also brought out some extra complimentary snacks along the way haha. After having fun until dawn, whoever wants a final toast with soju heads off for round two together~!~!

Round two at dawn: samgyeopsal with tablemates

Guess we all got hungry at the solo bar, because everyone kept chanting for samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly), so round two ended, inevitably, with samgyeopsal ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

The owner kept checking in on us throughout the night and also handled any troublesome guests who might've ruined the vibe, so it felt even safer to visit — a solo drinking bar in Konkuk, Seoul I can recommend. Every branch of Uu I've been to has left me with nothing but good memories of meeting fun people, so personally it's never let me down haha. Don't overthink whether it'll be fun, or who'll be there — just drop by casually :) The owner and staff are good-looking too, so you can go just to hang out with that mindset~~ Meeting good people along the way is just a bonus!
