Minimale Bakery & Coffee Bar Gaepo Branch (미니말레 베이커리&커피바 개포점) is a bakery café on the 1st floor at 43 Gaepo-ro 22-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. I went on a weekend. There were about 5 tables inside, and when I arrived around 11 a.m. it was already full.

Before going, I thought it was just a small neighborhood café, but it turned out to be a salt bread specialist, which naturally raised my expectations and trust in the bakery as a whole. There's also a wide range of breads and desserts that make good gifts, so if you're looking for a gift bakery in Gaepo-dong, I'd recommend this dessert café.

Does Minimale Gaepo bake its bread in-store?

There's a baking space at the back of the Gaepo branch. When I asked, I was told that a professional pâtissier bakes a variety of breads and desserts right in the store, kneading and baking daily with Minimale's own recipes.

The chilled showcase had cake slices, tiramisu, castella and more, and the room-temperature shelves held all kinds of cookies and baked goods, so the range of desserts was much wider than I'd expected from a Gaepo-dong café.

What breads and pastries does Minimale Gaepo sell?

Minimale's signature bakery lineup includes a fresh cream scone, a croissant made with top-grade AOP butter, a Portuguese-style egg tart, salt bread, babka and handmade New York cookies. Every bread is individually wrapped, which is hygienic for storing and easy to carry one by one.

The babka is about the size of your palm, so it's pretty big, haha.

They also had the newly released handmade baton financiers in several flavors. You can pick the flavor you like and pair it with coffee, which makes it a nice Gaepo-dong café dessert.

Is Minimale Gaepo good for group gifts and thank-you presents?

I'd recommend Minimale Gaepo for school or daycare events, thank-you gifts and group gift bakery orders in Gaepo-dong. There are a lot of schools around the café, so it's a good pick for students, parents and teachers.

Besides baked goods, they also have bottled drinks and cold brew flasche bottles, so putting together a bakery gift set is really easy.

What I bought at Minimale Gaepo

I bought a Helsinki Latte, a Dunkel cold brew flasche, an egg tart and salt bread. For the Helsinki Latte you can choose your beans and switch to decaf, so even people who can't really drink coffee can enjoy it without worry.

How does Minimale's salt bread taste?

The Minimale Gaepo salt bread was good enough to make my personal top 2 of salt breads. It's not just crispy on the outside; thin layers shatter crisply, the texture is really great, and the butter flavor comes through richly.

I didn't expect much, so it was a pleasant surprise, much tastier than I thought. If you like salt bread, I recommend it! (I haven't tried the egg tart yet, so I'll come back with a review later, haha)

What does Minimale's Helsinki Latte taste like?

I've had the Helsinki Latte at other branches too, and it was delicious again. From the very first sip it felt completely different from the lattes I know, like my eyes were opened to a whole new kind of latte, haha.

Dunkel cold brew flasche and Dunkel Americano prices

Dunkel is a deep, bold dark-roast bean with a rich chocolate flavor, and an Americano made with it costs ₩3,600. The Helsinki Latte is so good that I got curious about the Dunkel flavor on its own, so this time I also bought a Dunkel flasche. It's a coffee with an easy price near Yangjaecheon.

Both the bread and the flasche drinks are easy to carry and individually packed, so they're great for grabbing as a simple snack like this.
