3–4 months after my C-curl straightening perm, I picked the flat iron back up

About 3–4 months ago I chopped off my long straight hair and got a C-curl straightening perm (magic setting), and back then I thought, "If I get a C-curl, I won't need a flat iron at all, how convenient~?" But then why... why does it curl outward instead of inward?! ㅠㅠㅠ Maybe I just can't blow-dry properly, but in the end I had to use the flat iron anyway..

It doesn't even flare out prettily, it looks like this, like a jagalchi (fish market) lady..? Put on a hat and I turn into a comedian auntie ㅠㅠ These days I have to get up between 6 and 6:30, and doing my flat iron every morning takes a good 10 minutes, so my already tight commute prep got even tighter. I held off because I thought a full straightening would turn my hair into dog fur, but the weather keeps getting hotter and my hair keeps getting more damaged and frizzy, so I decided: enough, straighten it all out!!

The place I visited is With Me Hair (위드미헤어), a hair salon near Jungang-ro! It's close to both a subway station and bus stops, and there's a parking lot on the 1st floor of the building, so it's easy to get to. These days I drive almost every day instead of taking public transport, so I thought about driving.. but it was a weekday morning, so off I went by public transport! If you're coming by car, check the parking space first, and if it's tight, use a paid lot nearby.

It's in an alley, not on the main street, so it's a bit hard to spot at first, but you'll find it quickly with a map. Go into the alley to the left of the Daegu Sin Dermatology building and you'll see a brick building with Joeun Pharmacy on the 1st floor. The With Me Hair sign is right next to it!

I went up to the 3rd floor, and since I was the first customer, I sat down right away with no wait. It was really, really hot that day, and the owner immediately blasted the air conditioning, so I cooled down fast!

I deliberately only shampooed that day and didn't use a flat iron or hair oil or anything. Wow.. I never get to see the back of my head, and the back was even worse than the front? It flared out so badly I wanted to just chop it all off..

One-on-one reservations, and straightening with a repair ampoule mixed in for a pregnant customer

With Me Hair runs on a one-on-one reservation system. Every time I get my hair done I end up waiting 30 minutes to an hour, and I hate it when the person working on me keeps changing, but here the owner did everything from start to finish!

While I waited after the solution was applied and the timer was set, they also prepared snacks and drinks~ I'm in my second trimester, so I was a bit worried about the harsh chemical smell, but the owner mixed in a repair ampoule, so it wasn't harsh and actually smelled like flowers.

She also said my ends were badly damaged, probably from using a flat iron every day before work, so a repair solution would be better, and I could really feel how much care she put in. Once the curled-up ends were straightened out, my hair was quite a bit longer. I wanted a tassel bob, so I decided to trim the length so it doesn't touch my shoulders!

Doesn't it look so much neater after cutting? I felt so refreshed haha. She focused on me one-on-one and her hands were quick, so it didn't take long and finished fast, which I think made it less tiring. Of course I'm in the stable stage and I only came after my doctor said it was fine, but since I'm pregnant I was still a little nervous, and this put me at ease ㅎㅎ

Compare before and after and the difference is even bigger! I wanted a neat, clean tassel bob that falls in a straight line. Since I did the straightening together with it, the curly new growth at the roots got tamed, and she thinned out the volume too, so there's none of that bulky triangle-kimbap (samgak gimbap) shape at all, which I loved haha

It's been about 2 weeks since I went to With Me Hair, and in that time I haven't turned on my flat iron even once haha. My morning prep time has shrunk so much that my quality of life has gone up! haha With the thinning and the shorter length it feels cooler too~ I'm on vacation all week and heading off on a trip tomorrow, so I'm happy to be leaving with light luggage and light hair!
