Why I toned my bright brown hair down to chocolate brown
As the weather has gradually started to cool down, I found myself wanting a little autumn mood change too, you know? After coloring my hair several times, it had somehow become almost the lightest shade of brown ㅜ_ㅜ I liked having light hair in its own way, but the roots growing in started to bother me more than I expected, and keeping up with it every time was such a hassle. So this time, I decided to tone everything down to a calm chocolate brown that would suit fall.

I got my color done by Director Seyeon at 26do Hair Suseong Branch (26도헤어 수성점), a hair salon in Daegu's Nam-gu. Today, I'm sharing my honest review of toning down from light brown to chocolate brown 💛

Free parking and easy public-transit access
I drove there! Free parking is available, so it was great not having to worry about parking if you're visiting by car. The lot can be a little confusing: search for Suseong-dong 1-ga Administrative Welfare Center in your navigation, then enter through the commercial parking-lot entrance immediately next to it. The entrance looks a bit like an alley leading into an apartment complex, so first-timers could easily drive right past it 👀 Both Daebonggyo Station on Line 3 and Daegu Bank Station on Line 2 are accessible, so it feels like it's right between Suseong-gu and Nam-gu...? Anyway, the access is very, very good!

26do Hair Suseong Branch also has several discount promotions going on! There is a first-visit discount for new customers, a friend-referral discount when you visit with a friend, and more, which was nice ~! Salon services can quietly add up, so I think taking advantage of these promotions can make getting your hair done a little more affordable 🤎

A personalized consultation that asks about your hair condition
I received such a warm welcome when I arrived at 26do Hair Suseong Branch. Before the service, I filled out a short questionnaire, and I liked that it asked about everything from the hairstyle I wanted to the concerns I usually have! It didn't feel like they simply picked a color and got started; it felt like a personalized hair consultation that considered my hair condition and usual style, which made me trust them even more 🤎 I also had the tea the salon provided while waiting, and it was way more delicious than I expected—such a quietly satisfying little touch!

A clean salon with generously spaced seating
The salon interior had an overall clean, comfortable feel too! It was neatly arranged around a white color palette, so it felt tidy from the moment I walked in 🤍 The seats were generously spaced, which meant I could relax during the service without feeling too aware of other clients. The whole place felt well maintained, so I was able to spend the appointment comfortably.

My bright, uneven hair before coloring
Let me show you what my hair looked like before coloring! After multiple dye jobs, it was light brown overall, but it wasn't one even tone—some sections were slightly different in color 🥲 On top of that, as time passed, my layers had started to stick out messily, and the overall style no longer looked neatly put together. Since I wanted to calm the color down this time, I decided not to just color it but also cut and tidy those messy layers! A proper autumn reset with clean, polished hair ~!

A chocolate brown color chosen with fading in mind
This time, I decided on chocolate brown. Director Seyeon looked at my existing hair tone and explained that because it had been dyed so light, the color could fade fairly quickly over time! So, while keeping the chocolate brown feeling I wanted, we chose a slightly darker color with the fading process in mind. It felt so thoughtful that the recommendation considered not just a pretty color right now, but also how it would fade after coloring 🥹 Director Seyeon is the best for taking care of details like this... 👍🏻 I genuinely want to come back next time!
Once we decided on the color, she carefully began applying the dye! She worked meticulously through each strand so the color would come out evenly overall 👀 Because there was a difference between the lighter sections and the previously dyed sections, I think she paid even closer attention.

After all the dye had been applied carefully, I waited a while for the color to develop nicely! They brought me cookies and a drink while I waited, so I could relax with a snack. Being looked after with even these small touches made the entire appointment feel lovely. There were chargers set up on one side too, which was great.

The change after chocolate brown color and a cut
Ta-da ✨ Here is my finished hair at last! The tone was made even overall, so the old color that had looked messy was neatly pulled together 🤎 After coloring, she also used a cut to clean up my previously messy layers! With the color calmed down and the cut done at the same time, my whole hairstyle felt so much neater. The chocolate brown I wanted came out beautifully too, so I really loved this tone-down color.

The difference is obvious when you compare the before and after, right? My bright hair with slightly different tones was cleanly toned down into a calm chocolate brown! And with the messy layers tidied up by the cut, it looked much more polished and neat overall. A total success for my autumn mood change.

Director Seyeon handled everything carefully, from the color consultation to the service and cut, so I was very satisfied. She was also really good at explaining how to care for my hair! I especially liked that she recommended a color with fading in mind, since my hair was so light to begin with, and once the cut tidied everything up after coloring, the whole mood felt much calmer too. So satisfied.. If you're considering a tone-down color for fall, I think it would be worth consulting Director Seyeon at 26do Hair Suseong Branch, a hair salon in Daegu's Nam-gu! I'll be going back to Director Seyeon when I need my hair done next time too ☺️
