Side dishes at Jangjak Saenggalbi: scallion salad and icy radish salad
At Jangjak Saenggalbi, once you're seated, sauces and side dishes are already neatly set up. Scallion salad and radish salad are served separately.

Seeing the neatly arranged table, it felt like I'd walked into a proper Korean restaurant... ✨

Scallion salad and radish salad are served separately, and the scallion salad in particular went really well with the galbi. The fresh scallion aroma brought out the meat's flavor even more, so I kept reaching for it.

The radish salad wasn't your typical version — it came with a special icy touch. It's not fully frozen, so you gently break it up with a spoon as you eat.
The refreshing icy texture paired well with the hot weather, and the crunchy bite made it even more satisfying! Even the banchan is high quality at this fresh galbi specialist in Jongno, Daegu — Jangjak Saenggalbi!
How do refills work? The self-bar and kiosk orders at Jangjak Saenggalbi
If Jangjak Saenggalbi's neat, carefully prepared banchan isn't enough, you can use the self-bar!

Being able to help yourself to side dishes was really convenient, and anything not available at the self-bar could be ordered extra through the kiosk!

You can also freely refill the sweet sauce that goes so well with the galbi, so you'll have plenty of sauce right up to the very last bite!
The 58,000-won fresh galbi plate, deboned and grilled by staff
This time I ordered the main dish: the Jangjak Saenggalbi plate (₩58,000). Even before grilling, the vivid white marbling had my expectations rising...!

Time to put it on the high-heat grill and start cooking!

Since Jangjak Saenggalbi is a grill-it-for-you meat restaurant in Jongno, Daegu, staff grill the meat themselves so you can comfortably enjoy it at its best.
Separating the meat from the bone on galbi isn't as easy as it looks. But the skilled staff trimmed it into easy-to-eat pieces, so there was zero hassle on my end! The meat clinging to the bone had a chewy texture that made for fun eating...

The golden-brown grilled fresh galbi looked juicy just from the sight of it.

The outside was cooked to a delicious brown while the inside kept all its juices, giving it a perfectly tender texture!
Mul naengmyeon for 7,000 won: the cold noodles that cut the richness of galbi

✔️ Mul naengmyeon (cold noodles, ₩7,000) You can't skip naengmyeon in summer! Though honestly, galbi and naengmyeon is a winning combo regardless of the season...

As expected, eating rich galbi continuously can start to feel a bit heavy, and that's when a bite of naengmyeon refreshes your palate completely. The sweet-and-tangy noodles with the savory galbi is a combination that never fails!
From the neat banchan to the juicy fresh galbi, everything here was satisfying! If you're looking for a pork galbi restaurant in Jongno, Daegu, come enjoy a comfortable meal at this grill-it-for-you meat restaurant, Jangjak Saenggalbi!
