How to get to Taiga Tempura & Matsudo, and parking
Taiga Tempura & Matsudo is directly connected to the Blue Line Park Mipo station, one of Haeundae's landmarks, so access is excellent. It sits right in the tourist center, making it perfect for a meal before or after the beach train or the Sky Capsule.
You can easily come on foot, and if you drive, the Cloud Mipo parking lot is available, so you can visit without parking worries even in busy Haeundae Mipo.
Exterior: modern signage and big glass windows

The building exterior was clean and stylish with a distinctly Japanese feel. The simple, modern signage makes it easy to spot from far away.

Warm light glows through the large glass windows, so the cozy, trendy mood comes through even before you step inside.
Interior and seating: is it okay for solo dining?

Stepping inside, I was struck by the open, airy feel and the upscale interior.

The ceilings are high and sunlight pours softly through the big windows, so the inside feels very pleasant and bright.

There are dacchi-style counter seats (seats facing the kitchen) along a long open kitchen, plus clean white chairs and tables spaced generously. It's comfortable for eating alone, and just as easy for a date.
Shrimp katsu set price and what comes with it

This time I ordered the shrimp katsu set (₩21,000), impressive from the first look, and a Zero Cola (₩3,000).

The set arrived neatly arranged on a wooden tray, and it was honestly a work of art.
On a large white plate sits a big, golden fried shrimp that looks crunchy just by looking at it, topped generously with soft homemade tartar sauce sprinkled with parsley.
It comes with fluffy, well-cooked white rice and deep, savory miso soup.

On the side are a mini sauce spaghetti, rich and appetizing, and a soft salad.

There's also kimchi, spicy and tangy, to cut the richness.

And a cold Zero Cola adds refreshment, making a perfectly balanced meal.
How did the shrimp katsu taste?
Bite into the shrimp katsu at Taiga Tempura & Matsudo and you get a clear, light crunch followed by a rich, nutty flavor. The homemade tartar sauce on top isn't too sour or sweet, just creamy, so you can enjoy it clean and light to the last bite without getting tired of it.
Why it's a good lunch pick in Haeundae Mipo
I recommend Taiga Tempura & Matsudo with confidence because it combines the Mipo seaside atmosphere with the quality of Japanese cooking. Many people look for Haeundae ocean-view restaurants around here, and this Japanese spot by Haeundae Blue Line is ideal to drop into after taking in the open Mipo sea view.
It's especially good for a Busan Mipo lunch: at midday you can enjoy a tidy set meal in the bright sunlight coming through the big windows.
Overall verdict
Taste, plating, a clean atmosphere, and the location right next to Blue Line Park: this Haeundae restaurant has all three. The neat, tidy presentation made me feel well looked after, and the fried food was easily the best of any Japanese restaurant I've visited lately.
I'd go back 200%. If you want to experience true "crispy outside, juicy inside" (gyeotbaksokchok) in Haeundae Mipo, definitely visit Taiga Tempura & Matsudo!
