Dongdaegu Station Chinese spot: egg fried rice & plum tea, Gyeryonggak
In short
Gyeryonggak (계룡각) is a newly opened Chinese restaurant near Dongdaegu Station in Dong-gu, Daegu, following the brand's Gyeryong branch in Chungcheong Province. Over lunch with her husband, the writer had egg fried rice and a mini tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) for two, and was pleased by the generous portions in porcelain bowls, the crispy pork, the spicy jjamppong broth and the plum tea to finish. With a spacious hall, group rooms and free mini jjajang rice for children aged 5 and under, Gyeryonggak is a Dongdaegu Chinese restaurant worth recommending for a family meal.

Has everyone made their vacation plans?! Summer holiday season is coming up, and lots of you will be eating out with family or heading off on trips. I recently visited Gyeryonggak (계룡각), a Chinese restaurant in Daegu, and I was sooo x9999 happy with it that I just had to recommend it for going with family. Want to take a look together?!👀
Where is Gyeryonggak near Dongdaegu Station, and is there parking?
Gyeryonggak is a Chinese restaurant on Dongdaegu-ro 85-gil in Dong-gu, Daegu, near Dongdaegu Station, with a large parking lot right next to it. From the subway station, it's about a 15-minute walk.

The Gyeryonggak I visited with my husband was in a brand-new building that had only just opened. The branch in Chungcheong is already really popular, so I guess that's why they opened one in Daegu too! The parking lot is fully set up, so if you bring a car you can just pull in and go.
Gyeryonggak's hall, group rooms and perks for families
Gyeryonggak is a Chinese restaurant in Daegu with a hall and group rooms spacious and pleasant enough for company dinners. Children aged 5 and under who come with a parent get free mini jjajang rice (rice topped with black bean sauce), so it's a good place to bring kids too.

Free mini jjajang rice, a Naver receipt review event, and I heard it's a company that supports children at a children's home in the Daegu community too, so there was no reason not to go!

You can also check the menu from outside the restaurant.

The interior was super clean, spacious and comfortable, there was a self-serve bar, and the staff were friendly, so it honestly felt like walking into a fancy restaurant.
How varied is the menu at Gyeryonggak?
The menu has a really wide range of jjajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce), ganjajang (dry-style black bean noodles) and fried rice dishes, plus loads of main dishes and noodles. There's a mini tangsuyuk that's easy for two people to enjoy, so going as a pair was economical too.

The most important part: the menu! Chinese restaurants usually have a lot of dishes anyway, but Gyeryonggak felt like it had even more.
How fast does the food come out, and how is it served?
At Gyeryonggak the food came out almost right after ordering, within about 10 to 15 minutes, served in clean, classy porcelain bowls. The quality could give high-end restaurants a run for their money, and the portions were generous.

Around 12 o'clock, all sorts of customers showed up: families, groups of friends, people eating solo and more. When the food arrived in those super neat, classy porcelain bowls, I couldn't help but gasp😎
How do Gyeryonggak's egg fried rice and mini tangsuyuk taste?
What my husband and I ordered that day was the egg fried rice and the mini tangsuyuk for two. The egg fried rice was really generous, and with a good amount of scrambled egg mixed in, the texture felt even softer!

They also gave us a really generous helping of jjajang sauce, nicely savory, with every ingredient easy to chew. Was this hands down the best fried rice I've had lately..! And my picky husband ate it up so happily that I felt great too~

Gyeryonggak's tangsuyuk is crispy, and the sauce isn't greasy but nutty, so when I dunked a piece in, it melted in my mouth. The vegetables in it were just right and went so well with the sauce! Overall the food was clean-tasting, and the jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) broth was spicy and delicious, which handled the greasiness nicely!
Finishing with plum tea: is Gyeryonggak good for a family meal?
We finished the meal at Gyeryonggak with plum tea, and even that was perfect. The space is wide and tidy, set up so families can relax, so I'd recommend it as a family meal spot in Dongdaegu.

My husband and I used to only order Chinese food in at home, but coming to the restaurant meant we could eat it right as it was cooked, and the clean, pleasant space made us even happier. Since Gyeryonggak is set up for families to enjoy comfortably, it would be great for bringing my in-laws too! So if you're looking for a restaurant to go to with family, how about Gyeryonggak!?🥟
