Nahonsha is a solo shabu-shabu and sukiyaki restaurant a 7-minute walk from Hapjeong Station Exit 7 in Mapo, Seoul. The mala shabu-shabu costs 15,900 won, and adding rice porridge for 4,000 won brought the solo meal at a window-view seat to 19,900 won, with the vegetable and meat portions sized right for one person. Weekend Korean BBQ near Wangsimni: ₩63,000 for two at Pujutgan

Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom is a cauldron-lid fresh pork BBQ restaurant in Haengdang-dong, Seongdong, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Exit 10 of Wangsimni Station. Two people who arrived at 4:30pm on a weekend ordered one serving of fresh pork belly, two servings of pork neck, rice and a Coke for ₩63,000 in total, and the free soybean-paste stew and nurungji (scorched rice) came in portions big enough to pass for a ₩10,000 dish.
