In short

Two people ordered the 15-dish Jindallae course for 78,000 won and ate through four rounds — 8 Korean dishes, 3 seafood dishes including 4kg Wando flounder sashimi, 3 fried dishes and spicy fish stew — with cola and makgeolli bringing the bill to 91,000 won. Today I'm introducing a Sadang restaurant that's also a great Sadang spot for a team dinner: Jindallae Silbi. It was my first time going, and it was so good, with so many dishes, that I recommended it hard to friends around me — and the friend who came with me even sent food photos to her coworkers saying she'd bring them here for a team dinner soon.

I was so satisfied with Jindallae Silbi... let me tell you honestly how it went!

Where is Jindallae Silbi Sadang Branch, and what are the hours?

Jindallae Silbi Sadang Branch is on the 2nd floor above 'Tone Music Academy,' in the Sadang-dong 1 food alley near Sadang Station Exit 9. Hours are Mon–Sat 18:00–24:00, closed Sundays.

A retro interior that feels like walking into the 1980s and 90s

Heading up to the 2nd floor and opening a door that looked like a gateway back into the 80s and 90s, I found an even more retro interior inside.

From 80s–90s posters to Fin.K.L music broadcast clips, I could tell they'd put real thought into the decor.

So happy with the vibe of the place..💖

Here's how the bill broke down that day.

  • Jindallae course for 2: ₩78,000
  • Cola: ₩3,000
  • Makgeolli: ₩10,000
  • Total = ₩91,000

True to a samchon-kase style, a huge amount of food came out. I figured that much food couldn't possibly all taste good — but nope, every single dish was delicious..🫶🏻 Let me walk you through what came in each round!

Round 1: the 8 basic Korean dishes

The first dishes to arrive in the Jindallae Silbi course were 8 basic Korean dishes.

  • Rice porridge (juk)
  • Soy-marinated crab (ganjang gejang)
  • Japchae (stir-fried glass noodles)
  • Spicy stir-fried pork (jeyuk) + rice ball
  • Silken tofu
  • Garlic & chili peppers
  • Bossam (boiled pork wraps) & kimchi
  • Pink sausage

The crab was plump and delicious, the warm juk was tasty too, and the jeyuk had a bit of a spicy kick.

The bossam was tasty too..

All of it was so delicious.. and then the cola and makgeolli arrived in the middle!

Round 2: 3 seafood dishes and 4kg Wando flounder sashimi

While we were still eating the first round, the second round of seafood arrived.

  • Squid, clams, shrimp & minari (water dropwort)
  • Grilled flounder
  • Sashimi (salmon, flounder, etc.)

First, boiled squid, clams, shrimp, and minari..

The squid especially was so springy and firm, and the minari was refreshing — really tasty. I didn't expect much from the grilled flounder, but it turned out to be excellent..

And then salmon, flounder and other sashimi, with rice and seaweed for making sushi!

The flounder sashimi in particular was incredibly long and thick.. For reference, Jindallae Silbi only uses flounder raised in the sea off Wando that reach 4kg — apparently the bigger the fish, the better it works as aged sashimi (sukseonghoe)!

Round 3: the 3 fried dishes

Next came squid pajeon (scallion pancake), roast duck, and pork cutlet. The squid pajeon especially came out fresh and hot, packed with squid.

The roast duck was tasty too, and the pork cutlet portion was huge.

Round 4: spicy fish stew with free rice and ramen noodles

The final course was spicy fish stew (maeuntang)! It was packed with tofu, minari, and bean sprouts, and had a good dose of chili powder, so it was a bit spicy.

Rice and ramen noodles were offered free, as much as you wanted — but I was so full that even though I wanted to.. I ended up passing on the rice and noodles.

Finished off with the spicy maeuntang as a palate cleanser!!

Is Jindallae Silbi Sadang Branch worth going back to?

Wow.. the variety and quality were just so great.. it made me wonder if there'd be any profit left for them, that's how much high-quality food they give you, in huge portions.

I kept thinking, why didn't I know about this place sooner? It's a top-tier Sadang restaurant..💖 If you haven't been, you absolutely should. Your money will not feel wasted here. I think I'll be back often. Haha.
