In short

Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom is a cauldron-lid fresh pork BBQ restaurant in Haengdang-dong, Seongdong, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Exit 10 of Wangsimni Station. Two people who arrived at 4:30pm on a weekend ordered one serving of fresh pork belly, two servings of pork neck, rice and a Coke for ₩63,000 in total, and the free soybean-paste stew and nurungji (scorched rice) came in portions big enough to pass for a ₩10,000 dish. Anyone near Wangsimni Station catching a movie or meeting someone and looking for a good restaurant nearby?! Today I'm introducing a Haengdang-dong favorite of mine, Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom. The meat is incredibly good, and they offer a special service with unlimited free naengmyeon (cold noodles), noodles, scorched rice, and stew. It's a restaurant near Wangsimni Station I kind of wanted to keep to myself, but I'll share it with you all anyway~!!

Where is Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom, and what are its hours?

Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom is a BBQ restaurant at 1F, 24 Haengdang-ro 17-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, about a 5-minute walk from Exit 10 of Wangsimni Station. It's open Mon–Sat 14:00–24:00 and Sundays 14:00–23:00, and it's corkage-free, including for whiskey — good to know.

Even from the outside, you could tell it was a spacious, large restaurant~

Full of expectations, we walked in. Past the cashier, which had signs saying they make their own naengmyeon dadegi (spicy sauce) and broth from scratch, plus a Seoul Safe Restaurant certification,

What the restaurant feels like at 4:30pm on a weekend — group dinners welcome

Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom has so many tables it could easily handle a big group dinner in Wangsimni. Even though we visited at an odd time — 4:30pm on a weekend — there were already a lot of customers. (Seems like it's already a well-known pork belly spot in Haengdang-dong haha.)

And there's a refreshing-scented perilla oil deodorizer too, so make sure to spray it on before you leave~ >_<

What's special about this place is that when you order according to your number of people, you get unlimited free stew, naengmyeon, noodles, and scorched rice — and they give you a huge amount, too.

How generous are the free stew and nurungji?

[A quick look at the free stew and scorched rice service] First, the stew had chunks of meat and big pieces of tofu in it, just like a stew you'd pay over ₩10,000 for, and there was a ton of it… even after the two of us ladled out generous portions, there was still plenty left, as you can see in the image on the right.

We only ordered one serving of scorched rice, thinking it would be a small amount, but they brought out a huge bowl full of it… truly generous...

A large bowl of free scorched rice

Both were so delicious… you have to order them… We were too full to order the naengmyeon or noodles, but with this level of service, they're probably delicious too… With service like this, this place feels like a totally great value pork belly spot in Haengdang-dong…

What two people ordered for ₩63,000

  • Raw pork belly (1 serving) ₩20,000
  • Pork neck (2 servings) ₩40,000
  • Rice (1 bowl) ₩1,000
  • Coke (1) ₩2,000
  • Total = ₩63,000

First, they set up the cauldron-lid grill along with the basic side dishes.

What we ordered: 2 servings of pork neck and 1 serving of pork belly *They also gave us onions and potatoes!

Cauldron-lid grilling the staff handle for you

The great thing about Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom is that a staff member grills every piece and cuts it for you. Thanks to that, you get to eat the meat at its most delicious state, and you don't have to worry about the meat while chatting with your friend. (If you can't grill meat well… this is the place for you, everyone.)

After sizzling away and grilling beautifully, the raw meat on the left turned golden-brown and delicious like on the right,

and they cut every piece deliciously for us, so we could enjoy it with kimchi, garlic, potato, and onion.

We also ate it with the lettuce side dish,

and with perilla leaves and lettuce too… it was seriously, seriously delicious… I'd say the meat itself was the best quality I've had at a BBQ place recently, with just the right satisfying chew and flavor.

Why Pujutgan is worth another Wangsimni date or team dinner

And like I mentioned earlier, the free service felt so good that I kept thinking — shouldn't they be charging over ₩10,000 for this? So this is definitely a Haengdang-dong restaurant I'll go back to, and it's also a great spot for a group dinner in Wangsimni. If you're looking for a Wangsimni date spot or a good cauldron-lid pork belly restaurant, give it a try~!!
