Yongsan tteokbokki set with three fish cake skewers: Hyeonseonine
In short
Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is a tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) and bunsik (Korean snack food) restaurant near Yongridan-gil in Yongsan, Seoul, a 3–5 minute walk from Exit 6 of Sinyongsan Station. On a second visit outside the lunch and dinner rush, the ₩24,000 set came with tteokbokki, fried snacks, sundae (Korean blood sausage), fish cake and kkoma gimbap (mini seaweed rice rolls), and the fish cake arrived as a generous three skewers. Whenever I come to Yongsan, I can't help but think of the legend of the bunsik (Korean snack food) world — Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch, seriously famous as a Yongsan tteokbokki spot. This is my second review haha. If you're near Yongsan or Yongridan-gil looking for addictive, never-fails bunsik, just run straight to Hyeonseonine without a second thought haha.

Where is Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch, and when is it open?
I was searching for Yongridan-gil restaurants and ended up back at Hyeonseonine anyway — the original really is the best! Hours are 11am to midnight. This tteokbokki is delicious whether you eat it for lunch or dinner.
The address is 2-13 Hangang-daero 39-gil, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It's near Yongridan-gil so it's easy to drop by. It's about a 3–5 minute walk from Exit 6 of Sinyongsan Station.

There are so many hot spots around Yongridan-gil these days, and after touring nice-vibe cafés and restaurants, what better way to finish than spicy tteokbokki? Honestly I think it's just as good as a starter haha.

Skip the lunch and dinner rush for an easy table at Hyeonseonine
I went to Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch outside lunch and dinner hours, so there was plenty of room and I got a comfortable, cool seat. I think I'm becoming a regular at this Yongsan tteokbokki spot haha.

There are small plates too, so you can use as much as you need comfortably. Scoop up some pickled radish here too — very good.

Pickled radish, and even the fried snack crumbs you sprinkle on the tteokbokki — very good. That's supposedly a real delicacy. Soy sauce and salt are also individually portioned, which felt hygienic too. Ladles and chopsticks are all there.

Ordering at the kiosk and joining the Catch Table waitlist
At Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch you can order easily via kiosk, and since the restaurant is spacious, turnover is fast, which is nice haha. They're also running a review event — I'm a total review event lover.

They also use Catch Table. Just a heads up that this is a restaurant with a wait~~~ Yongsan restaurant Hyeonseonine!!!

Ordering from the kiosk is easy too. Being bunsik, it's great for a simple meal, and since there's an instant tteokbokki menu, you can also pick your own tteokbokki style — even better. Lots of fried snack options and toppings too — the instant tteokbokki toppings are separate as well.

What comes in the ₩24,000 Hyeonseonine set?
Tteokbokki + fried snacks + sundae + fish cake + kkoma gimbap ₩24,000
An incredibly generous Hyeonseonine set. From tteokbokki to fried snacks, sundae, fish cake, and kkoma gimbap — absolutely perfect. You can properly enjoy ₩24,000 worth of happiness! I strongly recommend it as a Yongridan-gil spot! ❤️

Three fish cake skewers and a broth worth drinking
This is my favorite fish cake. The broth is seriously so good, I could cry. Since 3 skewers come out, it's generous.

How Hyeonseonine's tteokbokki tastes
Hyeonseonine's tteokbokki is genuinely amazing. The umami-packed sauce unique to Hyeonseonine soaks perfectly into the rice cakes — the addictiveness is insane! The sweet-and-spicy sauce is a perfect match with the chewy rice cakes, I could cry.

Sundae and kkoma gimbap in the set
No off odor at all, moist and chewy — dipping it right into the tteokbokki broth is super delicious. The kkoma gimbap, with its fragrant sesame oil aroma, is the essential relief pitcher that tames the tteokbokki's spiciness! I really recommend the whole set because every dish is there, and it's a really, really good combination in my opinion.

Fried snacks soaked in the fish cake broth
The crispy batter on the fried snacks holds up, so smothering it in the tteokbokki broth is amazing~~~ I'm a fried food lover so haha, the fried snacks here really are crispy. Every single piece of this bunsik combo was worth eating, and my chopsticks never stopped haha. The broth is so delicious that I ended up dipping the fried snacks, sundae, and even the kkoma gimbap all into it! The portion was so generous that the two of us left completely stuffed. I felt once again why this place has been endlessly loved as a Yongsan restaurant for so long!
