Eungam Korean BBQ where a pork belly fan fell for pork neck: Yukjjip

In short

Yukjjip is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Eunpyeong, Seoul, a 3-minute walk from Eungam Station Exit 4 and right by Bulgwangcheon stream. On a hot August visit, two diners had the 600g Yukjjip platter (whole pork belly, signature pork neck and pork skirt) for ₩54,000 plus doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), all grilled by staff, alongside the summer event with ₩1,000 soju and ₩2,000 beer. Verdict: even a confirmed pork belly fan was won over by Yukjjip's thick, juicy pork neck.

It's August, it's scorching, and I want meat — but standing in front of a grill in this heat? No thanks. I want a soju-and-beer combo with my meat, too. So I went looking for somewhere that grills the meat for you, and found Yukjjip, an Eungam Station favorite! They grill it for you, which is already convenient, but the taste was the best part. Let me introduce it!

Weekday-evening wait and the August ₩1,000 soju event

We visited on a weekday evening, and there was still a wait — that's how good Yukjjip apparently is?! If anything, that just built my anticipation, haha. There was another reason the wait was bearable, too...!

Cold ice water for waiting guests, a seated waiting area, and even a nostalgic gacha-style draw as a thank-you for waiting!! Since Yukjjip has two floors, the wait was relatively short anyway, and we got to wait comfortably, cool, and even entertained, haha.

One more thing! As a summer event running through August, soju is ₩1,000 and beer is ₩2,000 — obviously we had to go, right...? Haha.

1F tables for 4, 2F tables for 6

The interior was much cleaner than I expected! 1F has 4-person tables, while 2F also has 6-person tables, so groups would be more comfortable upstairs, haha.

What we ordered for two, and the price

Here's the Yukjjip menu board. Since we came as a pair, we ordered the Yukjjip platter (whole pork belly + Yukjjip's signature pork neck + pork skirt, 600g) for ₩54,000, doenjang jjigae for ₩5,000, rice for ₩1,000, soju for ₩1,000, and beer for ₩2,000.

Side dishes and sauces served with the meat

Just the right side dishes and sauces to go with the meat! That green onion kimchi in particular was so good.

The 600g platter, and why I fell for the pork neck

The Yukjjip platter (whole pork belly + Yukjjip's signature pork neck + pork skirt, 600g) — can you see that rosy, fresh color...? Can you see how thick the pork neck cut is...? I usually prefer pork belly over pork neck, but today I came home completely won over by Yukjjip's pork neck :)

Table set with meat and side dishes

With the whole table set with meat, a staff member comes and grills and cuts it for you directly!! Haha.

Staff member grilling the meat as a service

The pork neck at Yukjjip, an Eungam Station favorite, is insane...! On such a hot day, having a staff member handle the grilling for you is already so convenient and nice, but the taste was also the best!!

A bite of pork neck dipped in salt

I thought such a thick cut of pork neck would be tough, but it wasn't greasy at all — it was incredibly soft with juicy, moist juices..!! The pork neck even looked plump and springy..!

I tried it with salt, green onion kimchi, and salted shrimp, and since the meat itself was so good, everything paired well with it, haha. Seriously recommend the pork neck!! Probably the best meat I've had in Eunpyeong-gu, haha.

Pork skirt is good with just salt

The pork skirt was chewy and delicious too! The balance of fat and lean meat brought out the pork skirt's distinct flavor even more, so it was great with just a dip of salt, haha.

Whole pork belly and the review-event handmade sausage

Last up: whole pork belly and handmade sausage! The sausage came from a receipt review event, and the friend I went with said the sausage was her second favorite after the pork neck, haha. Even though I don't usually eat sausage much, Yukjjip's was delicious!!

The whole pork belly was also thick, giving it a great chew, and the ratio of lean meat to fat was so good that it's clearly the most popular cut among diners here, haha. At Yukjjip, even the pork belly's juices are top-notch...! Since they only use aged Jirisan pork, there's definitely no off smell at all, and every cut was tender yet chewy and delicious.

Finishing with doenjang jjigae and rice

Rice and doenjang jjigae — essential with meat! The savory soybean paste aroma fills your mouth and makes you empty a whole bowl of rice in no time, it's such a hearty stew, haha.

When to visit Yukjjip near Eungam Station

Yukjjip, an Eungam Station favorite, is a certified must-visit — there's even a wait on weekday evenings!! Every cut was delicious, but the pork neck especially stood out!!

When it's too hot in August and you want grilled meat but can't stand the thought of standing by a fire, try Yukjjip!! It's a place where you can enjoy your meal comfortably while still satisfying your cravings. I'm planning to go back again before the August event ends, haha.
