Weekend café in Uijeongbu, choco vs black sesame Basque: Forerest
In short
Forerest is a large café in a converted house set in the woods of Nogyang-dong, Uijeongbu. On a third visit to Forerest, this time on a weekend with two friends, the writer shared choco and black sesame Basque cheesecakes over three Americanos (one decaf) and explored the wide terrace and room-like indoor spaces. The dessert range is limited, but Forerest is a great large café in Uijeongbu for coffee and dense Basque cheesecake in a forest setting.

What kind of café is Forerest in Nogyang-dong, Uijeongbu?
Forerest is a large forest-view café at 181 Nogyang-ro in Nogyang-dong, Uijeongbu, open every day from 11 a.m. to midnight. This was already my third visit! The weather lately has been just perfect, so I went back again. It's a big Uijeongbu café with a real forest feel, a place to leave the city behind and unwind.

Is the road to Forerest and the parking easy?
The road up to Forerest is bumpy, but parking is uncrowded and easy. Look at how bumpy the way up is, hahaha. You might find it a little rough(?), but since the café sits further inside, the air was fresh and it felt healing. It was a weekend, so there were quite a lot of customers! Even so, parking was easy, which makes this a good big Uijeongbu café for a drive.

Forerest's terrace and indoor atmosphere
The outdoor terrace right in front of Forerest is sooo spacious. We parked at the back and walked to the café, and it really is a café in nature with a true forest feel. It's hot these days, but Forerest felt airy and cool, so sitting outside was fine.

The interior feels like a converted house, with plenty of Instagram-worthy charm! There are wide panoramic windows, and because the space is divided up, each area had a different feel. In the small room some people were studying or doing light work, and there were groups from couples to families!

There's also this woody interior, and the decor varied from space to space. It's a big Uijeongbu café that would be nice for couples too.

Forerest drink prices and dessert options
Drinks at Forerest are reasonably priced, starting at ₩5,500 for an Americano, and Basque cheesecake is the signature dessert. The other drinks aren't pricey either! The dessert selection is a bit disappointing, though. There's no bread or bakery, and I wish they'd add some! Still, there are now more kinds of dense Basque cheesecake, haha. It's really dense and sweet, so I recommend having it with an Americano!

We went out to see if we'd sit outside, and it was nice, but it was a little hot for us, so we came back indoors, hahaha. The outdoor vibe is great too. There were more tables further inside.

What three friends ordered: 3 Americanos and 2 Basque cheesecakes
We kept it simple at Forerest: 2 Basque cheesecakes and 3 Americanos, hahaha. Guys go for iced Americanos, right? ("아아" is Korean slang for iced Americano.)

How is Forerest's decaf Americano?
I ordered decaf, and the beans were nutty and didn't taste very acidic, so it was good. The coffee flavor was rich too. I don't know much about coffee, but the beans weren't bad! My friends said theirs were tasty too, haha.

Choco Basque vs black sesame Basque: which was better?
The choco Basque cheesecake at Forerest is pure chocolate, dense and sweet, so I highly recommend it if you like sweet cakes! It's tasty but so sweet that you want an Americano alongside, haha. For the other one, I tried the black sesame Basque cheesecake. You know black sesame is popular these days, right?!!

The black sesame Basque is a little less sweet and tasty, but my friends said the choco one was better!! They say the original is good too, but we were full and couldn't order more, which was a shame, hahaha. It's a big Uijeongbu café for enjoying coffee with cake! The space is calm and healing too.

Forerest restrooms and layout
The restrooms at Forerest are separate for men and women, which is convenient! They're single-person rooms, though, so there might be a bit of a wait(?). Still, the inside was clean! Besides the central area, there are about 3 spaces divided like rooms! Maybe that's because it was a converted house!!

When is the best time to visit Forerest?
It's best to enjoy Forerest's outdoor seating before midsummer, when bugs get bad. Next time the weather is nice, I'll have to try relaxing outside~! Once it gets a bit hotter there will be more bugs, so go before then~! It's open all year and until late at night, so I bet it feels different at night!
