Uijeongbu ring workshop for sisters: glossy silver Marea at Ring Plus
In short
Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch is a private-room ring workshop on the 5th floor of the McDonald's building on Rodeo Street in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. In a 3-seat room, the writer and her younger sister re-measured their ring sizes, chose the twisted Marea design in a glossy silver finish, and polished the rings themselves. They picked the sister rings up the same day, about 1 hour later. The verdict: the rings from Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch look as polished as a jewelry brand's, not like typical workshop rings.

Today I visited Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch (반지더하기 의정부점), known as a unique date spot in Uijeongbu! They say it has been running for 10 years and more than 20,000 couples have come through, making it Uijeongbu's number one hot-spot ring workshop! Couple rings are great, but it's also a nice place for family rings, friendship rings and other special occasions, so I went with my younger sister to make sister rings, haha.
Where is Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch?
Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch is at 11 Haengbok-ro, Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi, on the 5th floor of the McDonald's building on downtown Rodeo Street. It's open 12:00 to 21:00, and for parking you can use the nearby public parking lot.

The McDonald's is so big that it wasn't hard to find!

You may be worried about how to get up to the 5th floor. Go in through the entrance, then through the McDonald's door, and you'll find an elevator. Take it to the 3rd floor, then walk up just two more floors and the shop is on the 5th, haha.

Atmosphere and private rooms at Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch
Even though it's a workshop, Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch has a stylish, upscale interior, and it's set up as private rooms just for your group. I fell for the tasteful interior the moment I walked in. I expected a slightly shabby workshop feel, but it was far more stylish and classy than I thought, so I was surprised. There's a reason it's popular and famous among Uijeongbu ring workshops!
Because the rooms are private, you can spend cozy time making rings with a partner, friends or family, haha. At other workshops the space is often open or seats are right next to other people, which is uncomfortable, but at Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch you can relax, and I loved that.

The interior is pretty, right? haha. It's not the kind of ring workshop where people say "oh, you got a workshop ring." It's classy enough that people go "oh, what brand is that?" and that's amazing!!!

The room we visited was the 3-seater! My sister and I sat together and had plenty of room to work.
How is your ring size measured?
At Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch you fill in your basic information, measure your ring size yourself, and a staff member checks it again and adjusts it.

First I filled in my basic information and measured my ring size myself.

I measured myself as a size 12 and my sister as an 11, but we weren't sure. A staff member checked again and adjusted me to an 11 and my sister to a 9.5, a perfect fit, haha. An expert's eye really is different.

Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch prices and choosing a design
Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch charges a flat price with no extra cost for gems or other options. The price list is posted near the front, and you check the price by looking at the ring name stuck on the ring box. With no add-on fees, it felt less stressful.

There were so many designs. Every one was pretty, so choosing took quite a while T_T They say these are collaboration designs with a jewelry designer with 30 years of experience, and rather than a typical workshop feel, there were many refined designs you'd see at a department-store jewelry brand.
Why we chose the Marea twist design for our sister rings
I like twist designs where it doesn't matter much which side is front even when the ring turns, so I was torn between Marea and Twine. Marea has a double twist and Twine a single twist, so I ended up going with Marea! One of us picked the women's version and the other the men's version, haha.

Finish and color: glossy silver
You can choose the finish from glossy, matte or pearl, and we picked glossy because it looked the prettiest.

For color you can choose silver, black, rose gold or gold. You hold them against your hand and pick whichever suits you best. Silver and rose gold looked good on both my sister and me, and after much deliberation we decided on silver.
How does the ring-making process work?
At Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch, making goes in the order of sanding the sides, smoothing the outside and inside with a drill, and finishing with a glossy polish, and a staff member explains and checks at every step. The staff always explained the method first and carefully checked while watching us work. They say couples sometimes make each other's rings, but, um... let's each make our own..^^ hahaha

First you sand the sides until they shine! When you're done, press the call bell and a staff member comes to check that it went well, hahaha.

Next, sand the sides carefully so there are no bumpy spots! We kept teasing each other about being bad at it and couldn't focus at all, haha. When you come with a partner, friends or family, this time itself becomes a memory.
You use a big drill to smooth the outside and inside until they're round and sleek. Honestly my sister was really bad at it so I helped a lot, but the staff kept kindly looking after us, so it didn't feel stressful.
Then you use a small drill to finish while keeping the glossy look! When you're done, the staff do a final touch-up, and after about 1 hour of hanging out elsewhere you come back and the ring is finished. Even if you're clumsy with your hands, no worries, because a professional jeweler does the final finishing, so the quality is really good. Same-day pickup made me even happier!!!
The finished sister rings: do they look handmade?
The glossy silver Marea sister rings finished at Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch don't look like workshop rings; they look as refined as pieces from a jewelry brand.

Finally, the rings! Aren't they just so pretty?

We started by overlapping our hands for the photo, then switched to a V sign because hands are for holding with a partner^^ hahaha. The rings feel snug on the hand and the design is so classy that I'm happy every time I look at them. Honestly, I thought a workshop ring would be a bit clunky or look too obviously handmade, but Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch was nothing like that. The design is refined as if bought from a jewelry brand, and the meaning of having made it myself made it feel even more special!

To finish, there's even a polaroid photo service, so we showed off our rings and took a shot, hahaha.

Also, AS (after-service) is available, so keep that in mind!
Who should visit Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch?
I'd really recommend Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch if you want to make special memories with someone precious, whether couple rings, friendship rings, sister rings or family rings. It was a unique Uijeongbu date-style outing that left me with a pretty ring and a time I won't forget. If you're wondering what to do on a date in Uijeongbu, make your own one-of-a-kind ring at Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch, haha.
