Hapjeong wine bar for second rounds: Callaway Chardonnay at Gipeun Sup

Today I'm introducing a bar with a great atmosphere that I visited in Hapjeong for the first time in a while. It's called Gipeun Sup (깊은숲), and it turns out it's a pretty long-standing favorite in Hapjeong! Just like its name, it feels quiet and cozy, so I really wanted to share it.

Where is Gipeun Sup in Hapjeong, and what are the hours?

Gipeun Sup is about a 5-minute walk from Hapjeong Station Exit 6, in the basement of a building at 27 Dongmak-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul. You come in a bit from the street and head down to the basement, where the bar is. Going down like that feels like heading to a hidden spot only I know about..! haha

What is the atmosphere like at Gipeun Sup?

Gipeun Sup is a bar filled with vintage props like old bookshelves, a classic turntable and model sailing ships. The moment I walked in, what caught my eye were the vintage pieces dotted everywhere: shelves stuffed with worn books, a classic turntable, a model sailing ship. It felt like walking into an old study or an antique shop. This kind of vibe is totally my thing...!

Places like this are usually either too quiet or too loud, but Gipeun Sup gets friends and couples alike, so there was a nice level of chatter. I loved that!

How do you order, and what's on the menu?

Ordering at Gipeun Sup works by tapping your phone on the QR card on the table. Being able to order easily from your smartphone was convenient. We'd already had drinks at our first stop, so we picked an easy-drinking white wine. Besides wine, there's a really wide range of cocktails and whiskies, so I think people who love drinking would be very happy here.

How was the Callaway Chardonnay for a second round?

Since it was our second round, we skipped food and ordered just one bottle of Callaway Chardonnay (2024, California). It's a wine I like: a fresh, smooth white that's really nice to drink on its own. The price isn't a burden either, so one bottle shared between two is just right!

Overall, bottles at Gipeun Sup are good value, so I recommend ordering a bottle rather than glasses!

White wine goes really well with the complimentary pretzels too!

I totally recommend Gipeun Sup for people who want a drink while chatting quietly, people who love vintage, moody interiors, and anyone looking for a date or blind-date spot! The nice lighting and the vibe for heart-to-heart talk made it a wonderful wine bar for a second round.

What is the Naver review brownie event?

Gipeun Sup is running an event where you get a free brownie if you leave a review on Naver (Korea's main search portal) via the QR code on the table! I was full but still wanted a little something, so I left a review, and wow, the owner brought out a pretty, big brownie that looks like something you'd normally have to order from the menu! It was so cute and tasty, and while I was taking photos and eating, the bottle of wine disappeared in no time haha I barely stopped myself from ordering another one.

Oh, and the red wines at Gipeun Sup are priced really kindly too, so next time I want to come for a first round and order them with other snacks. There's a wide variety of cocktails as well, so I was so sad that I'd already eaten a lot at the first stop T_T With a sweet brownie and wine, it was truly the best way to end the day!

For anyone who wants to spend time comfortably in a cozy atmosphere, I really recommend it both as a second-round bar and as a date spot! If you come out to Hapjeong, Gipeun Sup is a place I truly recommend.
