Kid-friendly Korean restaurant lunch near Eunhaeng-dong, Daejeon: Usul

A Korean restaurant with great atmosphere, a good spot for wedding-invitation gatherings in Daeheung-dong, and a fusion Korean must-visit near Daejeon's Jungang-ro Station.

We came out to sightsee around Eunhaeng-dong with the kids and were looking for somewhere with easy parking, kid-friendly Korean food, and good vibes — and we found exactly the right place!!!

Where Usul is, opening hours and parking

Usul is at 48 Jungang-ro138beon-gil, 1st floor, Unit 109, Jung-gu, Daejeon, South Korea, 323m from exit 3 of Jungang-ro Station. It's open Tue–Sun 11:00–21:00, last order 20:00, closed every Monday. You get 3 hours of free parking in the building's underground lot.

Since the underground parking lot in the building is free for 3 hours, it was great being able to run errands after a quick meal haha 🤭 The alley getting there is a bit complicated since it passes one-way streets and a public parking lot, but the entrance and parking spots inside were nice and wide, so it was really convenient 👍🏻

There's a nearby subway station, a well-known century-old restaurant, and a cathedral, plus Sungsimdang bakery just 5 minutes away — and you can't just stop by Sungsimdang alone, right??? 🤭 It's a place with great atmosphere for a relaxed meal, making it perfect for a Daeheung-dong food tour course!!!

Why Usul in Daeheung-dong is still full at 1pm

Usul turned out to be such a popular spot in Daeheung-dong that even with a 1pm reservation, the tables were already full 🤩 Some tables had even closed due to sold-out ingredients!!! I came curious about which dishes had sold out, but given the endless popularity, every dish looked exciting.

With bar seats for solo diners and tables for four, it's good for both eating alone and small group meals.

At the entrance there were hair ties, tissues, mouthwash, deodorizer and other convenience items ready to go — so clean before and after the meal!! Combined with the staff's kindness, it made for a comfortable and pleasant dining experience 🤭

The visuals are insane!!! 😍 You know that feeling of wanting to try everything?? This is a place where something new sells out even while you're still deciding, so I'd recommend visiting quickly!!!

✔️ Spicy peanut chogye bibimmyeon + sweet corn shrimp potato pancake

The basic side dishes are simple — aged kimchi and pickled garlic scapes. Since the menu itself is fusion Korean food that doesn't need side dishes, the whole spread feels clean.

Spicy peanut chogye bibimmyeon, 13,900 won

Thick chunks of chicken with a nutty peanut sauce blended with spicy-tangy seasoning make for a uniquely charming fusion chogye noodle dish — even the kids happily piled chicken onto their bibimmyeon and ate it up!! Mixing the vegetables and egg garnish into the other half of the noodles gave it a real bibim-guksu feel 🤩

Sweet corn shrimp potato pancake, 18,900 won

This pizza-look potato pancake is crispy, topped with sweet corn, ricotta cheese, basil pesto, shrimp, arugula and more — total freshness 😍

Is Usul a good lunch stop with kids?

Usul was such a satisfying place to enjoy a fun, delicious twist on Korean food 😍 The atmosphere feels Korean but also sophisticated, giving that real 'dining out' feeling, and with hearty Korean dishes that everyone from kids to adults can enjoy, I recommend it!!! Thanks for the meal today 🌷
