Let me introduce Burgiz Daeheung, where you can enjoy a proper handmade burger in Daejeon. It is a burger specialist built around beef patties with a rich meaty flavor and soft buns, topped with all sorts of extras. I ordered generously, from the Mushroom and Double Bacon burgers to Chili Fries and a milkshake.

A Daeheung-dong handmade burger spot near Sungsimdang’s flagship store
This time, I visited Burgiz Daeheung, a great handmade burger spot for a meal in central Daejeon and close to Sungsimdang’s flagship store. Burgiz is said to be a hamburger house that began in Daejeon’s Tanbang-dong in 2017; its name is a succinct expression of “burger is.” The burgers stay true to the basics while bringing out the harmony of varied ingredients, with buttery buns and 100% beef patties blended from several cuts as their defining features.

A bright atmosphere with an open kitchen
Exterior
Burgiz Daeheung is about a two-minute walk from Sungsimdang’s flagship store in Daeheung-dong. The large green Burgiz sign out front made it easy to spot. Rather than the restaurant’s dedicated parking, it is more convenient to use nearby street parking.
There is a standing sign outside displaying the menu at a glance and the signature items. The opening hours are posted at the entrance, so do take a look. There is no separate break time or regular closing day.
Interior
Once inside, the interior catches your eye with white and wood tones accented by green tiles and small decorative pieces. The high ceiling and overall brightness kept it from feeling stuffy, and the full glass frontage let in plenty of sunlight.
There are tables well suited to two to four people along with a long communal table, so it looked fine whether you come alone or with a group.
The wide-open kitchen is visible at the front. It feels like a modern reinterpretation of an American restaurant, so I think anyone who enjoys the casual atmosphere typical of handmade burger places will like it.
There is a sink on one side for washing your hands, and they also run small events, so be sure to join in.
QR ordering and what I ordered
You can order through the QR code at each table. Burgiz offers a wide range of handmade burgers, from a basic cheeseburger to Mushroom, Hangover, and Godfather. There are even veggie burgers and crispy chicken burgers, so the selection is broad enough to suit different tastes. The representative signature items are said to be Hangover, Godfather, and Mushroom.
- Double Bacon Set
- Mushroom
- Chili Fries
- Milkshake
- Mixed Peppers
The set includes a burger, fries, and a soft drink. They bring the cup first, so you can help yourself to whichever soda you want. Soft-drink refills are available, which made it easy to drink comfortably alongside the burger or fries.
The Double Bacon Set, loaded with patties and bacon
The Double Bacon Set (₩17,300) is, just as its name suggests, packed with patties and bacon. It was so substantial that the bacon and cheese were visible beyond the burger itself.
The juicy beef patty paired beautifully with the savory umami of crisp-cooked bacon. With melted cheese added too, it felt like a seriously rich handmade burger. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a burger generously loaded with meat, cheese, and bacon.
These are the fries included with the set. Their thick-cut appearance is a standout. They come with ketchup, and their fluffy, salty flavor is addictive.
If you need more sauce, sriracha, mustard, ketchup, and hot sauce are set out on one side of the restaurant, so you can enjoy them with whatever sauce you prefer.
Mushroom topped with a mozzarella mushroom fry
The Mushroom burger (₩10,300) is one of Burgiz’s signature items. A thick beef patty is topped with cheese and a large mushroom fry, which immediately catches your eye.
The mushroom fritter contains nutty mozzarella cheese, and it comes with a richly meaty patty, tomato, and vegetables. What especially impressed me was that the mushroom was not simply grilled but fried until crisp.
With one bite, you get the nutty, rich patty flavor first, followed by the mushroom’s distinctive aroma and crispy texture. The soft bun and cheese come together too, making this an overall very flavorful burger. I recommend it to mushroom lovers.
Chili Fries and a milkshake on the side
The Chili Fries (₩7,200) feature crispy fries generously topped with a rich, spicy chili sauce, with smooth ranch sauce in the middle. There are beans in the chili as well, so the sauce itself is quite substantial.
Unlike eating fries alone, the spicy, rich chili and mellow ranch came through together. If ordering only a burger feels a little lacking, this is a nice side with a different feel from regular fries. There was plenty of chili sauce, so it was easy to coat even the fries at the bottom.
The milkshake (₩6,500) arrives in a tall glass topped with colorful sprinkles, and the presentation alone gave off a proper American burger-joint feel.
Its smooth, sweet flavor pairs well with dipping salty fries or drinking after a rich burger. Taking sips of sweet milkshake in between made for a pretty good combination.
Refreshing the Double Bacon burger with Mixed Peppers
I also added Mixed Peppers (₩900) to eat with the burgers. It contains pickled fresh jalapeños and bell peppers, and the colorful appearance was quite nice too.
In particular, adding a little at a time to a burger with strong cheese and meat flavors like the Double Bacon brought in a tangy, lightly spicy note and refreshed the palate. Personally, at ₩900 it does not feel burdensome, so I would recommend ordering it if you need a palate cleanser here and there.
Recommended for
- Anyone looking for a handmade burger with a deeply savory patty in Daejeon
- Anyone looking for a place to eat near Sungsimdang
- Anyone who likes handmade burgers with distinctive toppings
- Anyone who wants the American-style combination of burgers, fries, and a milkshake
The combination of rich beef patties and distinctive toppings is what stayed with me here. The Mushroom, especially, clearly showed Burgiz’s character with its mozzarella mushroom fry, while the Double Bacon is likely to satisfy anyone who loves meat and bacon. If you are visiting Sungsimdang, Daeheung-dong, or Eunhaeng-dong and looking for a different meal, try a handmade burger at Burgiz Daeheung.
