A pork gukbap set for three with my family in Gwangalli
I went to 1953 Hyungje Dwaeji Gukbap Gwangalli (1953형제돼지국밥 광안리점) with my family and we had a huge 3-person set. After a walk along the sea at Gwangalli, if you're craving something hot and brothy, pork gukbap (pork and rice soup) is the first thing that comes to mind, right?

The meat was tender with no gamey smell, the broth was rich, and we even got complimentary makgeolli, so I wanted to share this place with you.

If you want a hearty meal in Gwangalli, this is a Busan pork gukbap spot I'd recommend.
Hours and atmosphere at 1953 Hyungje Dwaeji Gukbap Gwangalli
1953 Hyungje Dwaeji Gukbap Gwangalli is open every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. It's close to Gwangalli Beach, so it's an easy place to eat while traveling.
Lots of locals come at mealtimes, which got me even more excited, and the mood was relaxed enough for anything from a solo meal to a family dinner.

As you'd expect from a place for a filling meal in Gwangalli, the menu had plenty of variety.
What comes in the 3-person set?

The 3-person set at 1953 Hyungje Dwaeji Gukbap Gwangalli comes with three bowls of gukbap plus suyuk (boiled pork slices) and sundae (Korean blood sausage), and I liked that you can pick your gukbap to suit your taste. Here's what we chose.
- Pork gukbap (milky broth)
- Mixed offal gukbap (milky broth)
- Bulkkot ("flame") gukbap (spice level chosen: about like Sesame Ramyeon)
- Suyuk
- Sundae
The Bulkkot gukbap has udon noodles in it, which gave it a different charm, and I was happy to try so many dishes in one go.

Starting off happily with complimentary makgeolli
As soon as we sat down, we started with a glass of cold makgeolli (Korean rice wine). It whetted the appetite and made me look forward to the meal even more.

Even a small gesture like this shows they think about their customers.
How does the milky pork gukbap taste?

The milky-broth pork gukbap was really rich yet clean.

There was plenty of pork, so every spoonful came with meat. Even with rice stirred in, I never got tired of it. It really felt like a proper Busan pork gukbap place.
The mixed offal gukbap is a recommend too
The mixed offal gukbap at 1953 Hyungje was loaded with offal and sundae, and I liked the chewy texture, which wasn't tough.

The rich broth and the nutty flavor of the offal blended well, so if you like offal, I recommend trying it.

It's a worthy Korean gukbap in Gwangalli for a filling meal.
How spicy is the Bulkkot gukbap?

You can choose the spice level for the Bulkkot gukbap, and we ordered about Sesame Ramyeon level. It was a mild kick that anyone could enjoy,

and best of all, the udon noodles made it fun to eat with the broth. If you like spicy soup, this one will satisfy.
Don't skip the suyuk and sundae

The 3-person set at 1953 Hyungje Dwaeji Gukbap Gwangalli also comes with suyuk and sundae.

The suyuk was moist and tender with no gamey smell at all, and the sundae was mild and chewy, which left an impression.

Wrapping it in perilla leaves with salted shrimp, ssamjang (seasoned bean paste), raw garlic and chili made it even better, and it paired really well with the gukbap. That's one more reason I'd recommend it as a meal spot in Gwangalli.
Does 1953 Hyungje Dwaeji Gukbap Gwangalli do takeout?

You can get takeout as well as eat in, and I liked that you can enjoy warm gukbap at home too.
It seems like a good option for people who live near Gwangalli or want to eat comfortably at their accommodation after sightseeing.
Final thoughts
1953 Hyungje Dwaeji Gukbap Gwangalli won me over with its rich broth, tender meat with no gamey smell, and generous suyuk and sundae.

It felt popular with locals as well as travelers, and seeing customers keep coming in during the evening, I could tell word of mouth had already spread.
Being able to get takeout so you can enjoy it anytime was a big plus too.

If you want a hearty meal in Gwangalli, I confidently recommend it: a Busan pork gukbap restaurant, a generous Gwangalli meal spot, and a tidy Korean gukbap place all in one. One bowl of warm broth left me full and satisfied.
