Sangam gimbap takeout with burdock and tofu: Samhyeongje Gimbap

I stopped by the Sangam DMC area and picked up gimbap from Samhyeongje Gimbap, Sangam branch (삼형제김밥 상암점). This takeout and delivery shop is on B1 of Nuri Dream Square and had a wide range, from mini gimbap to tofu gimbap. After eating it at home, I remembered the generous burdock and mashed tofu fillings and the mild seasoning.

How do you find the shop in Nuri Dream Square?

The shop is at 396 World Cup buk-ro, Nuri Dream Square B1, Unit 1029, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The building was bigger than I expected and had several gates, so it could be a little confusing on a first visit.

It helps to remember Gate 4 on B1. Enter through the gate, turn right, then turn right once more to reach the shop.

The shop is in Zone A, right beside the restroom. Once I got close, the sign was easy to see, so it was not difficult to find. The 안내 also said that parking is available.

According to the shop’s notice, all the gimbap ingredients are cooled before packing, so the rolls may feel a little cold. It also described using generous amounts of burdock and mashed tofu as a feature of its gimbap.

How do ordering and packing work?

Ordering, payment, and packing were mostly self-service. I selected the menu at the kiosk and paid there.

Cash payment was also possible. I paid directly and collected my change.

Cup noodles and pre-packed gimbap could be picked up immediately, while rolls that were not displayed were prepared after a short wait.

What menu items are available, and how much do they cost?

There were assorted gimbap and several varieties, including tuna, wasabi tuna, crab stick, and cheese. Mini gimbap was also available separately. Side options included cup noodles, miso soup, and tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes).

• Original tofu gimbap was ₩5,000.
• Wasabi tuna tofu gimbap was ₩5,500.

I packed three rolls to eat at home. Along with the larger gimbap, I also ordered mini gimbap.

How were the flavor and portion of the takeout gimbap?

When I opened the package at home, the first thing I noticed was the burdock. There was so much of it that it stuck out from the gimbap.

The cross-section was packed with burdock and mashed tofu, too. When I took a bite, the texture felt more varied than the gimbap I usually eat.

Is the mini gimbap a good size for a snack?

The mini gimbap was also generously filled and larger than I expected. To me, it felt closer to a side dish with a meal than a light snack.

How were the overall seasoning and the heat of the wasabi tuna?

What I liked most was that the seasoning was not strong overall. Even with plenty of ingredients, it did not taste overly salty or complicated; it was mild and clean.

The wasabi tuna was less spicy than I expected from its name. It had a moderately spicy kick for my taste, and the wasabi aroma did not overpower the tuna, so the flavors worked well together.

Can you use it for company meals or group orders?

Takeout and delivery are available, and the shop said it accepts company group orders. After trying the takeout myself, I thought the rolls were easy to eat and varied enough to share several menu items for a company breakfast or lunch. The owner also responded kindly.

What are the opening hours and closing day?

The weekday hours listed during my visit were 07:00–20:00, with last order at 19:00. On weekends and public holidays, the listed hours were 08:00–15:00, with last order at 14:00, and the shop was closed every Sunday.
