Sejong open-kitchen café for tomato juice & affogato: Café The Corner

In short

Café The Corner is a café on the roadside of the Dodam-dong restaurant street in Sejong; it roasts its own beans and has been named to the Blue Ribbon Survey 12 years in a row. The writer ordered tomato juice, an americano, an affogato and honey bread, and liked the tomato juice with almost no sugary taste, the americano with little burnt flavor, and the open kitchen where you can watch everything being made. Café The Corner is a Dodam-dong café worth recommending for high-quality drinks and desserts at fair prices, like a 3,800-won americano.

12 years of Blue Ribbon? Inside Café The Corner

The inside is bigger than I expected, so it was easy to relax and unwind.

I really liked how clean and tidy the interior is. It also felt special that you can try coffee made from beans the café roasts itself, and you can drink beverages made with homemade fruit preserves (cheong) and fruit too.

Café The Corner has been chosen by the Blue Ribbon Survey for 12 years as a coffee hotspot. If you love coffee, I'd honestly recommend The Corner.

Café The Corner menu and prices

The menu has lots to try, starting with snowflake bingsu (shaved milk ice) made from 100% milk.

There's a wide range of drinks, and honey bread is the only bread dessert, so you can have it with your drink ❗ The prices were more reasonable than I expected, too. Coffee from house-roasted beans for ₩3,800 was hard to believe 👀 By the way, items marked with a star are the signature menu, so keep that in mind. You can order a bit of everything without worrying about the bill, which was perfect.

How do the affogato and honey bread at Café The Corner taste?

At Café The Corner I ordered tomato juice and an americano as drinks, and an affogato and honey bread as desserts.

Ordered items: tomato juice, americano, affogato and honey bread
  • Affogato ₩6,500
  • Honey bread ₩6,500

Affogato: vanilla ice cream with espresso poured over it

The affogato is vanilla ice cream with bittersweet espresso poured over it, so you really get that sweet-and-bitter flavor ❗

Honey bread drizzled with maple syrup at Café The Corner

The honey bread comes with maple syrup drizzled all over the bread, plus plenty of whipped cream and syrup.

The texture is soft and the sweetness isn't overdone, so it went well with the drinks.

Café The Corner tomato juice, americano and the open kitchen

A glass of tomato juice blended from whole tomato pulp

I ordered one tomato juice and one americano. The tomato juice has almost no sugary taste, and since they blend whole tomato pulp as it is, you get a proper tomato flavor. The americano had little burnt taste and was clean, just right. Best of all, Café The Corner has an open kitchen, so you can watch your drinks being made, which is a real strength. 📍 If you're usually on the hunt for a great coffee shop, I'd definitely recommend The Corner.

Verdict: Café The Corner in Dodam-dong, Sejong — would I go back?

Café The Corner, a 12-year Blue Ribbon winner, served high-quality coffee, drinks and desserts. The prices are reasonable, and being able to see it all made in front of you made me trust what I was eating. It was also perfect to taste coffee from beans they roast themselves. I'll probably drop by whenever it crosses my mind ❗ If you want high-quality snacks, are looking for a café in Dodam-dong, Sejong, or want good value, I'd recommend giving it a try 😁
