Kkoko Land is an outdoor-table bar in Mapo, Seoul, between Hongdae and Sangsu. On a weekday evening, I had boneless fried chicken and charcoal-grilled chicken barbecue with Kelly draft beer and Terra bottled beer. Verdict: a lively choice for a breezy, noisy night out with friends.

A weekday evening at a Hongdae outdoor bar
While looking for an outdoor-table bar in Hongdae, I visited Kkoko Land (꼬꼬랜드) at 8 PM on a weekday. The weather had turned noticeably cooler, making it a perfect evening for a beer outside.

It was already busy enough to fill the tables when I arrived, and the atmosphere grew even livelier as time went on.

I enjoyed a Hongdae night with boneless fried chicken and charcoal-grilled chicken barbecue with sauce, alongside Kelly draft beer and Terra bottled beer.

Between Hongdae and Sangsu
Kkoko Land is at 18 Wausan-ro 19-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, and occupies both the first and second floors.

It is easy to stop by after spending time in Hongdae, and it is not difficult to reach from Sangsu either. With sights and bars gathered nearby, it made a good place for an evening meet-up, and it was convenient to carry on from dinner to drinks in one place.

What are the outdoor tables like?
There are outdoor tables in front of the bar for nice-weather days.

Unlike a typical bar where you only drink indoors, being able to enjoy your table while feeling the outside air was part of Kkoko Land's charm.

With the cool evening breeze and the energy of Hongdae's streets together, it had that free-spirited outdoor drinking atmosphere.

Packed indoors even on a weekday
Even at 8 PM on a weekday, there were not many empty seats. Lots of people at every table were enjoying chicken dishes and beer, and the sound of conversation made the whole place bustling.

Rather than somewhere to drink quietly, it was a good place to relax and chat with friends. You could immediately tell it was a popular Hongdae spot that draws a crowd even on weekdays.

The chicken dishes and beer I ordered
Today's order was boneless fried chicken, charcoal-grilled chicken barbecue with sauce, Kelly draft beer, Terra bottled beer, and soda.

I ordered both the mild fried chicken and the sauce-coated charcoal-grilled chicken barbecue, so I could enjoy two different styles.

I chose draft and bottled beer respectively, and added soda for when I was not drinking alcohol. Putting all the different items on the table made for a generous, proper outdoor-bar spread. The welcome drink came out first.
Easy-to-eat boneless fried chicken
Since there were no bones to pick out, the boneless fried chicken was easy to grab and eat while chatting.

It was also a good one to eat before the seasoned chicken barbecue, and with Kelly draft beer, it was a familiar combination that worked well.

It was easy for several people to share at an outdoor table, so I naturally kept reaching for it as the drinks went on.

Charcoal-grilled chicken barbecue with sauce
The charcoal-grilled chicken barbecue with sauce offered a different style from the boneless fried chicken.

Adding this sauce-coated chicken barbecue gave me more choice than ordering just one dish, and alternating it with the fried chicken made the contrast between the two chicken dishes clear.

It was nice to eat slowly with Terra bottled beer, and a fitting beer snack to choose at a Hongdae outdoor bar.
Kelly and Terra beer
I had Kelly draft beer as my first glass with the chicken dishes, then continued the drinks with Terra bottled beer. Being able to alternate between draft and bottled beer made it easy to order according to preference.

Drinking cold beer in the cool breeze really gave me the feeling of being out at an outdoor bar. Having soda ready too was refreshing and clean after the seasoned dish.
Final thoughts on this Hongdae outdoor bar
Kkoko Land was lively enough to have its tables full even on a weekday evening. On a cooler evening, it was a good place to enjoy an outdoor-bar atmosphere with boneless fried chicken and charcoal-grilled chicken barbecue with sauce, plus Kelly draft beer and Terra bottled beer. It is a bar that suits a loud, fun Hongdae night with friends.
