Featured image from a Beijing duck visit to Mirim Yangjang Busan Main Branch

I’d been craving Beijing duck for the first time in ages! So I went to Mirim Yangjang, which sells Beijing duck in Jeonpo! I remembered getting it to go before and loving it so much, so I was super excited to come back after all this time haha.

Mirim Yangjang Busan Main Branch location and parking

Mirim Yangjang Busan Main Branch is open daily from 12:00 to 02:00, with last orders at 01:00. Group visits, reservations, Wi-Fi, and separate restrooms for men and women are available, but there’s no on-site parking. I parked at Duwon Parking Lot, which costs ₩2,000 per hour!

Mirim Yangjang entrance with hanging Beijing duck

There was Beijing duck hanging right at the entrance. It looked so delicious that I wanted to hurry inside and eat haha.

There’s also Catchtable by the entrance, so I think there could be a wait on weekends! And from the entrance itself, it felt different from an ordinary restaurant—the door looked like one from an old shop, which was fun haha.

First- and second-floor seating atmosphere

There are two floors inside! The first floor has counter seating, plus two 2-person tables and two 4-person tables.

The second floor has around seven 4-person tables. In particular, the big glass wall makes the second floor feel much more spacious than the first! If I were visiting with a group, I’d want to sit upstairs haha.

Hong Kong-style Mirim Yangjang pamphlet

The Hong Kong-style pamphlet was so interesting! It explains how Mirim Yangjang came about and how the Beijing duck is prepared, so it was nice to read while waiting haha.

Mirim Yangjang menu

Ordering half Beijing duck and duck fried rice

Here’s the menu! Along with its signature Peking duck, there are lots of dishes including guobaorou (sweet-and-sour crispy pork), kkanpung shrimp, yuringi (fried chicken with soy sauce), and fried eggplant. There are also plenty of sides, such as mala soup, mala tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), shrimp fried rice, and fried egg noodles, so it looked great for pairing a main with a side! I ordered the half Beijing duck for ₩39,000 and duck fried rice for ₩8,000.

Peking duck seen from inside the restaurant

While waiting for our order, seeing the Peking duck from inside had a different feel from seeing it outside haha.

Cucumber, shredded scallions, sauce, and basic side dishes

Maybe because we ordered Peking duck, cucumber, shredded scallions, and sauce came out with it. The basic sides were peanuts and tangy pickled bean sprouts haha.

A plate of duck fried rice

Duck fried rice that wasn’t too heavy

The duck fried rice came out first! It felt like about one and a half servings, so it was perfect as a side for the Peking duck.

Fluffy, dry-fried duck fried rice

There was plenty of duck in it, and because the fried rice was such a deep color, I thought it would be strongly seasoned. But it was just right—not too salty or heavy! It was nicely dry and fluffy, and so delicious haha.

Half Beijing duck served with thin pancakes

Then the half portion of Peking duck, our main dish, came out! I loved that the thin pancakes came warm in a steamer too. For two people, a half duck plus one other dish would be just right as drinking food!

You get an even mix of duck skin and meat haha.

Peking duck with skin and lean meat

The duck skin was crisp yet chewy, while the meat was lean, light, and tender because the fat had been rendered out! To eat it, put cucumber, shredded scallions, and Peking duck on a thin pancake, then dip it in the sauce.

I tried putting the sauce on separately and dipping it too, but I found it easiest and best to wrap everything in the pancake first, then dip it in the sauce! The sauce was kind of... like oyster sauce without the salty edge? So it was easy to dip without feeling heavy.

Beijing duck spread that pairs well with drinks

These are dishes that would go so well with a drink! I couldn’t drink that day, so that was a little disappointing ㅠㅠ Next time, I really want to order Peking duck and another dish with Yantai Kaoliang liquor and beer!

It’s a bar with a great atmosphere in Jeonpo! You can enjoy Peking duck without it feeling too heavy, and the staff were kind, so we could eat comfortably.

I really recommend Mirim Yangjang, a great Jeonpo spot, to anyone looking for something special to have with drinks!
