Sophia adjustable reading stand

An adjustable book stand I found because I keep looking down

Whenever I read a book or use my laptop, I habitually bend my head way down~ My posture was already not great, and it felt like it was getting even worse. So while looking for an adjustable book stand that would let me sit up straight! and look comfortably with my head raised, I started using the sturdy Sophia Book Stand Reading Stand, which can be set at lots of angles.

A4-size Sophia reading stand

The Sophia Book Stand Reading Stand is made in Korea. At 297 mm × 233 mm × 18 mm, it is exactly A4-paper sized, and at 0.81 kg, it is very light! A portable book stand recommendation—it is easy to carry around.

Portable Sophia reading stand
Reading stand with ventilation holes

There are plenty of heat-dissipation ventilation holes~ so I think it would work nicely as a laptop stand too. When something is propped up, it can wobble~ and make you worry it will fall, but once the Sophia Book Stand Reading Stand is fixed in place, it is completely sturdy!!! Its structure does not wobble at all, so it is good not only for books but also laptops, tablets, and other small devices.

Reading stand with non-slip pads

There are non-slip pads on the back, so it did not slide around when placed down. I also like that the corners are not sharp. When moving books about, I sometimes get scratched on corners, but the Sophia Book Stand Reading Stand has a well-finished edge, so there is no need to worry about that!

Here it is folded up. Since it is quite light, I did wonder a little before using it, “Will it be stable?” But in actual use, it is totally sturdy!!!

A double truss structure that reduces wobble, plus height adjustment

It has a double truss structure, so it is especially resistant to wobbling and is said to be sturdy enough to hold up to 20 kg. The upper and lower supports attach with magnets, so they do not come apart easily on their own and will not open up while being carried. It may be a small detail, but I was impressed by the thoughtful design! Haha.

This is with both the upper and lower supports unfolded. It looks fairly large, and as it appears, the adjustment range is quite broad—an adjustable book stand recommendation for freely changing the height! It is nice to be able to use it at so many different heights.

Lower section: a three-level height-adjustable support

Three-level height-adjustable lower support

The lower section has three height settings. It clicks into the top panel, so it never tilted or shook while I was using it. The height adjustment range is quite large! You need to adjust it differently depending on what you are propping up or the size of the book, and the Sophia Book Stand Reading Stand has a wide adjustment range in both its upper and lower supports, which makes it very convenient in many ways.

The lower support clicks into place, and you have to press a button to release it, so there is absolutely no chance of it slowly~ tilting down by itself.

Upper section: a finely adjustable angled support

To use the upper section, lower the support; it has an enormous number of adjustment slots. That means you can fine-tune it, so if you want a height that suits you well, I recommend the Sophia Book Stand adjustable book stand! The support itself is broad, so books definitely felt stable when set upright. Each tiny, one-slot adjustment changes the tilt little by little, making it perfect for moving it around until you find your own comfortable angle.

The support can also be removed, and a slight push to the right locks it in place, so it is assembled really sturdily! It does not move easily. It is especially nice for securely holding heavy textbooks or a laptop.

One video explains it better than a hundred descriptions, haha. You can finely adjust both the top and bottom; it is light but sturdy, and the broad surface is great for holding books large and small.

The Sophia Book Stand Reading Stand has a highly stable truss structure. Trusses are used in structures that bear heavy loads, such as the Eiffel Tower and iron bridges, and this stand locks firmly! in place using only its built-in supports, without extra parts. I have never felt uneasy while using it.

How it felt with thick books and laptops

One reason I recommend this adjustable book stand is that it can hold books of many different thicknesses! The book ledge has two levels, so it can be unfolded and used in two ways.

It is good to alternate between the small and large ledges to suit a book’s thickness. It felt plenty stable with a tablet or laptop on it too!

Reading stand adjusted to maximum height

Here, the lower support has been assembled at all three levels for maximum height. It makes me picture sitting upright and looking at a book, haha. When reading or working for a long time, your posture is bound to collapse eventually; looking down at a book then feels like it puts even more strain on your neck.

Using a raised reading stand

Since Sophia Book Stand is light, I recommend it as a portable book stand! It is good for keeping in a bag and taking out whenever you need it.

It also has an adjustable page holder, which means it can hold thick books too! With its built-in spring mechanism, books up to 55 mm thick can be placed on it. The wide, stable ledge plus the page holder and fairly firm internal spring keep books from shaking around, which I liked.

And because it is A4-paper sized, it can hold large magazines too! Not just small books, but picture books such as children’s books, magazines, and other large-format books could all be placed on it very stably.

It is good for holding a laptop too~! For this, I fixed only the upper support and set the laptop on it lightly. The angle adjustment is very flexible, so I could set it exactly as I wanted. And it is stable! Even a large laptop sat on it without trouble. I recommend this easy-to-use, sturdy adjustable book stand; it is light enough to be portable too, and I am very satisfied with the well-made Sophia Book Stand Reading Stand.
