Noju (노주) is a good-value fine dining spot in Mangwon, Seoul, where ₩55,000 gets you an 8-dish lunch. Every dish was beautifully plated and delicious, and the word "exquisite" kept coming to mind throughout the meal. The atmosphere is lovely too, so I'd recommend it for anniversary dates and blind dates alike ʚ♡ɞ
How do you get to Noju, and where do you park?

Noju is just 2–3 minutes on foot from Mangwon Station and within 15 minutes on foot from Hapjeong Station, so it's really easy to reach. If you're driving, use a nearby public parking lot. It's closed every Monday, open 11:30 to 23:00 with last order at 21:00, and the break time is 15:00–17:00.
Noju's interior and seating

Noju is on the 2nd floor of the building. You climb the stairs, open the door, and the first thing you notice is the natural light pouring in through the big windows! The sunlight fills the whole space softly and it looks so pretty. By day it feels like a relaxed, stylish café, and I imagine that in the evening it turns into a more romantic wine bar.

Seating ranges from cozy tables for 2 to tables for 4, plus bar seats. I heard they also take group gatherings and wine club meetups, so if you need that, it's worth asking the restaurant!
Noju course prices, wine and corkage
The lunch course is ₩55,000 for 8 dishes, and the dinner course is ₩70,000 for 10 dishes! The value of the course for the price is one of the biggest charms of this Mangwon restaurant. After 8 p.m., if you order a half or full bottle of wine, you can also order the dishes in the course à la carte, so I'd recommend it for wine bar seekers too.

Noju's wine list was also really varied, from glasses to bottles. The list was packed with choices, and I heard they have wines that aren't on the menu too, so it might be good to tell them your taste and ask for a recommendation! Corkage is ₩20,000 per bottle, and if you show proof of a return visit you get free corkage for 1 bottle per 2 people, so keep that in mind :)
What comes in Noju's 55,000-won lunch course?

That day we ordered the ₩55,000 lunch course × 2 people. The lineup was focaccia with yuja (citron) ricotta cheese, two bite-sized starters, arancini, jambon (Korean-style ham), pasta, the signature gnocchi, Iberico pork and lemon sorbet. After finishing the whole course, we were pretty full even as adults.

Focaccia with yuja (citron) ricotta cheese
Warm focaccia came with yuja ricotta cheese. The nuttiness of the focaccia and the freshness of the yuja go together well and whet the appetite nicely from the start ˃ᴗ˂ The cream cheese isn't heavy either, so it was easy to enjoy.

Two bite-sized starters: truffle beet tart and endive with peanut butter
The first bite was a tart made with truffle cream cheese and beet. Even at one-bite size, the texture and flavor were full, and the truffle aroma and the freshness of the beet matched far better than I expected!

The second had mushroom and shrimp on top of an endive, with a thin smear of peanut butter on the bottom as the highlight. At first I wondered if it would work, but the moment I ate it I was nodding along. Noju seems to pull off these unexpected combinations so naturally!

Arancini
The arancini (fried rice ball) is made with white ragù and topped with a powder made from sesame oil. Crispy outside and moist inside, with the deep flavor of the ragù and the aroma of sesame oil blending subtly, it's a taste I keep thinking about! It could easily have been heavy, but the balance was great ♥️

Jambon
The jambon came with zucchini and Emmental cheese. The salty umami of the ham, the nuttiness of the cheese and the freshness of the zucchini came together for a clean bite! Each ingredient kept its own character while the whole thing stayed harmonious.

Octopus and clam pasta, loved even by a companion who doesn't eat seafood
Noju's octopus and clam pasta was personally one of the most surprising dishes of the day. One bite and a concentrated umami spreads right away, the noodles were cooked just right, and the balance between sauce and ingredients was great. My companion doesn't really eat seafood, yet even they said it was delicious!! (I ate all the clams myself haha vV)
I heard the type of pasta changes a little with each course, so I really want to try the other versions too.

Signature gnocchi, the top pick at Noju
My top pick at Noju! I understood right away why it's called the signature. The truffle aroma rises richly, and the gnocchi is fluffy yet still pleasantly chewy. The sauce was so good that I scraped the bottom of the plate clean with my fork. If you love gnocchi, you can look forward to this one ໒꒱

Iberico pork
The Iberico pork, cooked medium, came with mashed potatoes and jalapeño, and every bite had real presence.

The rich meaty flavor typical of Iberico came through strongly, and the tender texture was great too. Add the softness of the mashed potatoes and the kick of the jalapeño, and it showed the polish you'd expect from the last main dish!

Lemon sorbet
The lunch course ends with lemon sorbet, which refreshes the mouth and wraps up the meal's lingering flavors neatly. Its restrained tartness let us enjoy it happily right to the end.
Who is Noju best for?

Noju is not just a fine dining place with kind prices. The combinations of ingredients, the plating, the atmosphere, the service, none of it felt careless, and as the course went on I got more curious about the next dish!
