Where does the name 5PM sunset hour come from?
The owner says the name comes from watching the sunset while living in Porto, Portugal. This is the exterior of the dessert café. The name felt so unique that I wondered what it meant. The owner's written introduction was so romantic and memorable that I want to share it☀️
The name Sunset Hour is based on my memories of living in Porto. Behind the house where I stayed there was a hill called the Jardim do Morro, and every evening people would gather there one by one, watching the sunset and ending their day.
A warm color that's half day and half night, the moment when sunlight is at its kindest. People are like day and night too: even when their temperaments differ, they often weave together nicely and live warmly. I hope the people who sit around here spend their time like a sunset. (omitted)

Sunset-colored decor and lighting indoors, plus outdoor seats
The inside of 5PM sunset hour is decorated with props and lighting in colors that recall a setting sun. After reading the owner's note, the interior concept made sense to me. The props and lights suit the name 5PM sunset.

There are quite a few outside seats too, so in good weather it looked like a nice place for coffee and dessert outdoors.

5PM sunset hour drink and bakery menu
On the drink menu, coffee ranges from espresso drinks to cold brew and hand drip, and non-coffee options include ades and teas, so order to your taste.

The bakery lineup includes salt bread, bagels, scones, financiers, butter rice cakes and more. The smell of baking bread was so good from the moment I walked in🤭

Besides bread, you can also order bagel hot dogs and sandwich-style items, FYI.

Breads picked with my child, and a hot americano
We each picked the breads we wanted to try at 5PM sunset hour, and I also ordered a hot americano to go with them.

The bread looks pass💯 Fellow bread lovers will know: you can tell just from the color and the shine, right? This place's bread looks like it's going to be good 😎

Salt bread: the taste that won back a kid who was sick of it
The salt bread at 5PM sunset hour was nothing like any salt bread I'd had, more like the essence of what salt bread should be. 5PM sunset is famous as a Yeongjongdo salt bread spot. Honestly... my child said they were sick of salt bread and didn't want any, but I ordered it because it's the signature item, and it was truly the salt bread of my life⭐️ Salt bread is everywhere and tastes about the same, so I hadn't expected much.

My child said they like salt bread again, and told me not to touch it because they were eating it themselves, haha. If you're looking for a Yeongjongdo salt bread spot, definitely try it! You won't regret it.

Salt butter bagel: salty outside, nutty inside
The salt butter bagel at 5PM sunset hour is also seriously delicious. The outside is crisp and salty, while the inside is nutty. It went perfectly with coffee.

Garlic salt bread: a must if you like garlic bread
I ordered the garlic salt bread because I wanted something a bit punchier. If you like garlic bread, you can't help but love this. The garlic aroma is rich, and the texture is crisp outside and soft inside.

Macadamia financier: my next pick after the salt bread
After the salt bread, I'd tell you to try the macadamia financier at 5PM sunset hour. Financiers are kind of a common item too, right? But this one is nutty, has a nice chew inside, and isn't very sweet, so it looked easy for kids to eat.

My child said every bread was delicious and ate it all up.

Hot americano
The weather suddenly turned cold, so I had a hot americano, and the coffee aroma and the beans were both good. Coffee plus desserts to my taste! It was a happy café outing.

On the way home: cranberry scone and financier to go
I didn't want to leave just yet, so I bought one cranberry scone and one financier to go with my own money, ate them on the way home, and shared them with my child❣️ If you're looking for a Yeongjongdo dessert spot or a Yeongjongdo salt bread spot, I recommend 5PM sunset hour.
