Late-night solo Korean BBQ near Munjeong Station: Minari Naengsam
In short
Minari Naengsam is an all-you-can-eat minari (water dropwort) frozen pork belly restaurant in the M State building by Munjeong Station in Songpa, Seoul. Arriving alone after a late shift, the writer ordered the signature minari flower-cut pork belly at 14,900 won and minari fried rice at 4,900 won, and found the thin frozen pork cooks in moments with no waiting, best dipped in the perilla seed sauce with a tangle of minari. Between the meat quality and the free minari refills, Minari Naengsam is the place to come back to whenever Munjeong-dong Korean BBQ is the question.

On a day I really, really didn't want to work, I ended up crying through overtime anyway,, and there was no way I could go home like this, so I suddenly showed up at this minari naengsam (frozen pork belly) place! It's a Munjeong Station favorite I've visited a few times, and it was delicious as always. If you love minari (water dropwort), this is a place you absolutely have to visit.

Parking around Songpa can be a real pain, but here you get up to 2 hours 30 minutes free, which is so convenient! And apparently there's 50% off on weekends too.
What is the dining room at Minari Naengsam like?

It was packed with customers so I couldn't get a full shot of the space, but even though it's a BBQ place, it's kept really clean. That's probably why so many people come here!

That retro pojangmacha (street tent bar) vibe is pretty charming, right? haha

The tiger poster is quite imposing too haha. The place is surprisingly spacious, so even if there's a slight wait, don't worry — it clears fast.

Side dishes: green onion kimchi, mustard leaf kimchi and shredded scallions

The delicious-looking green onion kimchi and mustard leaf kimchi were the first side dishes to catch my eye,,! The lettuce and perilla leaves were fresh too.

Minari and kimchi to pair with the meat, plus salt & sesame oil, salt, ssamjang (thick dipping sauce), and perilla seed sauce — they gave us exactly the right side dishes to go with the naengsam. And whenever I come to this Munjeong Station favorite, the shredded green onion is just so good,,!
They say they use maldon salt, which apparently pairs best with pork belly, and the shredded green onion sauce has been refined over 8 years. The sesame oil is even pressed in-house,, which made me think this is a really meticulous restaurant. This time I ordered their signature menu, the minari flower-cut pork belly.
How fast does the minari flower-cut pork belly cook?

The pork belly, rolled up and frozen then sliced thin, looked even more delicious for it.

Made with grade-1 domestic female pork, it grilled up impressively clean. Genuinely zero gamey smell,, and yet you could still really taste the savory juices.
Above all, on a day when you've worked overtime and just want a shot of soju, you don't want to wait forever for the meat to cook, right? This pork belly cooks really quickly, so not having to wait is a huge plus,,

Paired with the all-you-can-eat minari, there's no better food for a late night after overtime,, minari especially goes so well with the perilla seed sauce! Meat + perilla sauce + minari is a combo that absolutely cannot go wrong, so I highly recommend trying it,, apparently they buy fresh minari from Garak Market every day, and even though it's not the easiest ingredient to prep, offering it unlimited was honestly surprising!

It's great with the shredded green onion, and just as amazing wrapped in a lettuce leaf,, I've tried plenty of naengsam in other neighborhoods, but nothing quite matches this place, which is why I keep coming back haha. That's how charming this restaurant really is.
Finishing the meal with minari fried rice

I was already full but couldn't resist — the minari fried rice, made by adding a bit of leftover pork belly and frying it once more, tastes even better that way! A Korean meal really does end with fried rice,, and they even top it with a fried egg, so the light, savory + spicy combo was the best. The fried rice was so good, and with fragrant minari chopped in, it didn't get boring even as I ate more,,

Even the candy they handed me on the way out shows how thoughtful the service is, and combined with the top-notch meat quality, it's a place I find myself returning to often. Next time I need to try the pork jowl, which is apparently trending right now! If you're wondering where to go for BBQ in Munjeong-dong, I recommend Minari Naengsam!
