Donghae Korean restaurant with ocean views: Mukho Sotbokkeumtang
In short
Mukho Sotbokkeumtang is a Korean restaurant on the second floor opposite Kkamakbawi in Mukho, Donghae, with sea views. My sister and I had the ₩30,000 dakbokkeumtang for two with fish cake and wide glass noodle add-ons; the chicken was tender and the portion left us too full for fried rice.

While passing through Mukho with my sister, I looked for Mukho Sotbokkeumtang (묵호솥볶음탕) because we wanted lunch with a sea view. The ocean view in front of Kkamakbawi and the generous dakbokkeumtang served on a pot lid stayed with me.

Where is Mukho Sotbokkeumtang, and is parking available?
The restaurant is between Eodal Port and Mukho Station, directly opposite Kkamakbawi. It was conveniently located for a meal during a Mukho trip, with Dochjaebigol, Mukho Port, and Eodal Beach all nearby.

In the Kkamakbawi Hoemauel building, look for the red sign among the sashimi restaurants. The address is 151 Ilchul-ro, 2F Unit 7, Donghae-si, Gangwon State, South Korea.

At the time of my visit, free parking was available in front of Kkamakbawi. It was rainy and the waves were rough, which made the sea across from the building feel even more striking.

Can you see the Kkamakbawi sea from the restaurant?
When I entered on the first floor, I was directed upstairs. The second-floor dining area looked out toward the sea by Kkamakbawi.

I chose this place because I wanted to eat while looking at the sea, and I liked the second-floor view. The owner said the restaurant had originally operated elsewhere before moving here.

How much are dakbokkeumtang and the lunch dishes?
At the time of my visit, dakbokkeumtang (spicy braised chicken) and dakhanmari (whole chicken hot pot) were each ₩30,000 for two. Korean beef large-intestine gopdoritang and beef brisket doritang were each ₩42,000 for two, while chicken kalguksu was ₩9,000 and chicken gomtang was ₩10,000.

We chose the dakbokkeumtang for two. Split between us, the base dish came to ₩15,000 per person, and we added fish cake and wide glass noodles separately.

At the time of my visit, there was also an event offering a fish cake skewer for writing a Naver photo review. I enjoyed both the fish cake skewer and the basic side dishes.

How spicy and tasty was the pot-lid dakbokkeumtang?
We chose level 2, described as about as spicy as Shin Ramyun. The dakbokkeumtang arrived on a large pot lid, and it looked generous from the start.

They said it was cooked to order and told us to eat it after 10 minutes when they brought it over. We let it simmer on the pot lid, and delivery orders continued to come in during our meal.

We started with the wheat rice cakes, potatoes, and mushrooms while waiting for the chicken to cook. Once cooked, the chicken was tender, and my sister agreed that the meat was soft.

Was the portion enough for two?
The dakbokkeumtang itself was generous. With the added wide glass noodles and fish cake, the two of us were full, and I was disappointed that we could not manage the fried rice I had been looking forward to.

We could get more side dishes from the self-service station.

After eating, we also stopped by nearby Eodalsamgeori. Although it was raining, the sea beyond the downhill road was beautiful. I was pleased with Mukho Sotbokkeumtang's sea view, generous portions, and tender chicken, and the owner was kind, so I would like to return.
