Whenever I'm craving jokbal (boiled pork trotters) or bossam (boiled pork wrap) in Cheomdan, one place naturally comes to mind — Kkankkanhan Jokbal Main Branch. This time, we went back for a family dinner!

I've lost count of how many times we've been here — it's the nth revisit by now, haha. The first time, I went out of curiosity after hearing so many good things from people around me, and once I tried it, I realized it's just a comfortable place to eat with the family, so we naturally kept coming back.

What the dining room feels like on a weekend evening, baseball on screen

We visited on a weekend evening, and as expected, it was busy. Inside, I saw families eating together at tables, as well as groups enjoying jokbal and bossam.

Big screen showing a baseball broadcast in the restaurant

The atmosphere was even better because a baseball game was on that day. There's a big screen in the restaurant, so plenty of customers were ordering jokbal or bossam and watching the game while eating. With good meat, a drink, and baseball to watch, it's great for coming with friends, and it also worked well as a family outing where we ate while watching the game.

Delivery packaging area on one side of the restaurant

Meanwhile, delivery orders kept going out from one side of the restaurant. Watching the packaged food steadily leaving throughout our meal, I could tell this is a place people order from a lot as well. This time, we debated between jokbal and bossam, and ended up ordering bossam since that's what the kids wanted.

The basic side dishes that come with the meal were satisfying too, exactly what you'd expect from a solid Cheomdan restaurant.

Bubbling hot doenjang jjigae

The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), bubbling hot, paired well with the meat and was also great with rice. When you're eating jokbal or bossam, you start craving a warm soup like this — and it hit the spot.

Soft, jiggly gyeranjjim

The gyeranjjim (steamed egg), which the kids love, also came out with a soft, jiggly texture, and our second child especially loved it. It was so soft and moist that she kept scooping it up with her spoon :)

We also got a flying fish roe rice ball, given as a freebie for leaving a Naver receipt review — an essential side dish, and even better since it was on the house.

Bossam meat sliced to a good thickness for eating

The meat came sliced at just the right thickness — good for wrapping, and not too heavy even eaten plain. Paired with the kimchi served alongside, the meat's clean flavor went really well with the kimchi's crisp tang.

Our first child loves plain white rice, so we added an extra bowl again this time — a generous portion that went great with the meat. Being able to eat it however each person likes is one of the things I love about coming here as a family.

Scratch card event corner next to the checkout counter

The 5,000 won lucky draw and the kids' ice cream corner

After we finished eating and were paying, there was a scratch card event. The kids got excited and scratched theirs, winning a ₩5,000 discount coupon. They said it can be used on the next visit!

Dessert corner with ice cream, coffee, and a game machine

This is the kids' favorite spot at Kkankkanhan — with ice cream, coffee, and a game machine, we ended the meal by enjoying dessert and a round of games.

It's the nth visit, but the reason we keep coming back is that every time, the whole family can eat comfortably. Free 3-hour parking with no stress, warm doenjang jjigae, jiggly gyeranjjim, generous jokbal and bossam, and even a baseball game on the big screen — plenty to be satisfied with. Seeing so many customers eating in-house alongside a steady stream of delivery orders, it's clear this Cheomdan restaurant, Kkankkanhan Jokbal Main Branch, is consistently loved in the neighborhood.
