Ilwon-dong tonkatsu restaurant with parking spots: Sioldon Ilwon
In short
Sioldon Ilwon Branch is a tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) restaurant on the Ilwon-dong food street in Gangnam, Seoul, a 9-minute walk from Samsung Seoul Hospital, serving pork aged 72 hours by cross-aging. A couple visited on a weekday before 6pm and ordered the tenderloin katsu (₩14,900) with a tomato curry add-on (₩3,000) and the cheese katsu set (₩12,900); parking is 2 spots in front of the building plus a paid lot a 1-minute walk away (₩100 per 5 minutes). Sioldon Ilwon Branch is worth the walk when the hospital's basement food court is not appealing.

72-hour cross-aged, high-quality meat that's affordable but the taste is the best of the best

What kind of place is Sioldon Ilwon Branch?

Located in Ilwon-dong. A tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) specialist using 72-hour cross-aged meat. It's a well-known franchise with many branches nationwide already. Loin, sirloin, cheese katsu and other tonkatsu, plus katsudon, nabe, udon and other Japanese dishes all in one place 😍 A good-hearted tonkatsu spot in Ilwon-dong offering quality, tasty menus at reasonable prices

Who would I recommend Sioldon Ilwon Branch to? It's only a 9-minute walk from Samsung Seoul Hospital, so if you've visited the hospital and don't feel like eating at the basement food court, I'd suggest Sioldon (personally, I liked Sioldon better than the food court)

If you cross the overpass from the Samsung Seoul Hospital intersection and head straight into the entrance of the food street, it's the fourth spot on the right
Where do you park at Sioldon Ilwon Branch?

There are two parking spots right in front of the building, but with so many customers at peak times, parking isn't easy. We parked at Samsung Seoul Hospital and walked over as a bit of exercise

There's a paid parking lot one minute's walk away for reference. It costs ₩100 per 5 minutes
Inside Sioldon: solo dining seats and tables for four
Order at the kiosk next to the entrance and take a seat!

There's a bar-style table with two chairs for solo diners

Straight ahead, the kitchen was busy cooking. Even though we visited before 6pm on a weekday, there were quite a lot of customers and the delivery order alerts kept ringing (this counts as a proven local favorite, right? 👍✨)

It has exactly that feeling of a Japanese home-style restaurant. Bright cream interior, clean inside. Quite a few tables for four, and the high-backed chairs are comfortable
Sioldon Ilwon menu and prices

The tonkatsu trio for a hearty meal: loin / sirloin / cheese, plus a special premium loin katsu and a half-and-half loin-sirloin combo katsu. You can add extra katsu or curry sauce (for an extra charge). At these prices, satisfying by Seoul standards 😚
How does it taste? Tenderloin katsu and cheese katsu after a 15-minute wait
At Sioldon, cooking starts the moment you order and takes about 15 minutes

Thinking 'ah I see,' I folded my hands respectfully and waited with a reverent heart, imagining the tonkatsu I was about to receive

But being impatient, I couldn't stand the wait, wanting to shove the crispy-outside-juicy-inside aged meat katsu into my mouth immediately, breaking into a cold sweat and squirming in agony

Just then, the katsu arrived 🤤😂 My husband ordered the fundamental sirloin katsu (₩14,900) and, since he loves curry, added tomato curry (₩3,000) as a side. I welcomed the cheese katsu set (₩12,900)

Six pieces of sirloin with a reddish tinge (not undercooked)
4 ways to enjoy tonkatsu at Sioldon
- Enjoy it as-is without any sauce, for the pure flavor and texture
- Sprinkle on some Himalayan pink salt
- Top it with wasabi or whole grain mustard
- Mix mustard into the tonkatsu sauce
*Extra sauces aren't set out on the table, but staff will bring more if you ask*

Rice and soup, 3 types of sauce (salt / wasabi / whole grain mustard). Finely diced radish kimchi, and the tonkatsu sauce comes topped with mustard—mix it in well

My husband said since the tonkatsu meat is already seasoned, eating it without any sauce for the pure flavor is actually the tastiest way

The cross-section when cut in half. For reference, this is how thick the cutlet is
Why the ₩3,000 tomato curry add-on is a must
The tomato curry sauce we added for ₩3,000. Kudos to my husband for suggesting we add this 👍👍✨ It's loaded with a huge amount of meat topping, making it richer, and the curry's consistency wasn't too thick or too thin—loved it. Great mixed into the rice or dipped with the katsu

Dipping the sirloin katsu into the curry sauce is heaven. Whatever else you order, be sure to get the curry. Highly recommend 😚❤️😚❤️
Cheese katsu set: four thick pieces

Four pieces of cheese tonkatsu stuffed with mozzarella. Four hefty pieces of katsu look filling even before you take a bite
A must for any blogger posting about cheese tonkatsu! Getting that shot of the cheese stretching looong 🥰 Staying true to my duties as a blogger, I picked up the cheese with chopsticks and stretched it out—I liked how smoothly it stretched
Zoomed in, it looks like this. After dipping it thoroughly in tonkatsu sauce

When you eat it, the cheese stretches out long and cheerfully. Tasty and great to look at—cheese tonkatsu, approved 👍
