Busan shabu kalguksu, weekend dinner waitlist on a 3rd visit: Yunujae
In short
Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu is a shabu kalguksu (hot pot with knife-cut noodles) restaurant in Daerim Munhyeon City Plaza, Munhyeon-dong, Nam-gu, Busan. On a weekend evening, the blogger wrote a name on the paper waitlist, waited briefly at the in-store waiting seats, then ordered the 11,000-won-per-person shabu kalguksu with regular-spicy red broth, adding 140g of sirloin because the seafood pancake had sold out. On this third visit, the house-made kalguksu noodles were again the highlight of Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu, a great-value Munhyeon-dong favorite.

I was craving shabu kalguksu on the weekend, so I headed to Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu, famous around Munhyeon-dong. This is actually my third visit here because it's just that good haha (I only go back twice if it's a real favorite). Here's the review!
Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu location and parking

How long was the wait on a weekend evening?
We came on a weekend evening and there was a wait, so we hung around for a bit haha. You just write your name on the waiting sheet and wait at the seating area in the store. It moves faster than you'd think!
They had chairs set up so we could sit comfortably and chat while waiting haha. It's hot these days, so it was nice to wait somewhere cool.

The store is spacious with plenty of tables, so it'd work fine for company dinners or gatherings too, and the wide gaps between tables were nice! They even have a high chair, so it's good for family meals haha.
Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu menu and prices
The menu at Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu is really simple and the set is solid. The shabu kalguksu for one comes with sirloin (70g) + vegetables and mushrooms + house-made kalguksu noodles + fried rice, all for 11,000 won! Isn't that such a good price haha?

There's red broth and white broth to choose from — red broth comes in regular/spicy, white broth comes in mild/regular/spicy. It was nice being able to adjust the spice level! We picked red broth regular and it was still spicier than expected, so if you're not great with spice, regular is the way to go!

When we went in the evening, the seafood pancake was sold out because they'd run out of ingredients, ㅠㅠ so disappointing! Next time I'll definitely have it.

And if you leave a receipt review, they give you a serving of sirloin, so make sure to grab that and eat a bit more meat.
Self-serve kimchi bar and 2:1 wasabi soy sauce
The self-serve corner had kimchi, seokbakji (radish kimchi), and broth, which was great! The kimchi and seokbakji were both delicious haha.

There was also a sauce on the table good for dipping the shabu kalguksu meat, and mixing soy sauce and wasabi in a 2:1 ratio was delicious haha. You should all try this combo too — an unbeatable combo~

Shabu kalguksu review: sirloin added instead of the pancake
Can't skip the best way to eat shabu kalguksu, right? The instructions were written out nicely, so we just followed along, which made things easy haha.
First, it comes out with the broth already containing minari, mushrooms, and other vegetables. We didn't need to add anything ourselves, which was convenient.
We got extra meat instead of the pancake haha, so two plates of meat came out.

Isn't the meat visual amazing?? Not tough at all, no smell, and a generous portion too haha.
And they brought out the fried rice and kalguksu noodles ahead of time so we could dive right in without breaking the flow — really nice touch. I'm impressed by the staff's sense of timing.

In goes the meat with a splash~ Following the recommended method, we put all the meat in at once before the broth starts boiling. The visual is amazing...♥♥

I'd recommend eating the seokbakji and kimchi together with the shabu shabu — it's delicious.

There's quite a lot of mushroom and minari in there too, and it's even better eaten with the meat haha. Unbeatable combo ♥ Plus the broth is spicy enough to cure a hangover... the kind of taste that instantly brings your appetite back when you have none. Seriously the kind of taste that would bring a runaway daughter-in-law back home.

And they don't skimp on potatoes either haha. The potatoes were fluffy and delicious.

House-made kalguksu noodles and fried rice finish
Maybe because they're house-made, the noodles are chewy and delicious. Personally, I thought the kalguksu was even better than the fried rice. The kalguksu noodles are not optional, they're mandatory.

Having K-dessert fried rice included in the set makes the whole meal so satisfying. The owner really seems to know exactly what makes food taste good. No matter how full you are, make sure to eat the fried rice before you leave! It's the kind of restaurant that's bound to have a wait... seriously the best value for money.
You could really feel how much care the owner put into every single ingredient, which made this such a great restaurant. The staff were also so kind, which left a lasting impression. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a Munhyeon-dong restaurant or a Busan kalguksu restaurant.
