This is the story of Dream Samgyetang, a go-to spot for hearty food and samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) near Dongtan Station.

On days when my body just feels drained like lately, the first thing I crave is hot soup. So I headed to Dream Samgyetang, right near Dongtan Station.

To cut to the chase — the samgyetang broth is seriously amazing. And on top of that, the seafood pancake pairing? Total game-changer! You might think, why bother with pancake at a samgyetang place, but here you absolutely have to order both. The combination is that good.

Where is Dream Samgyetang, and how far is it from Dongtan Station?

Dream Samgyetang is within walking distance of Dongtan Station, so it's a great pick for a solid meal before or after catching the SRT or GTX. I stopped by with my child after visiting my parents' place.

The restaurant is on the 2nd floor with wide spacing between tables, so it feels really comfortable — a good spot for a family meal, taking your parents out, or just casually grabbing some hearty food.

And honestly, one thing that quietly impressed me was how kind the staff were!

They set up my kid's dishes before I even asked, and checked in a few times about whether the room temperature was okay or if we needed anything.

It might seem like a small thing, but when you're eating out with a kid, that kind of attentiveness really matters. So even before the food arrived, I was already thinking, 'this place is good.'

How does the basic Dream Samgyetang broth taste?

At Dream Samgyetang, we ordered the most basic option, the Dream Samgyetang. It comes out bubbling in a stone pot, and just visually it already looks satisfying.

I took one spoonful of the broth and — wow. I just kept going back for more. It's rich and deep without being oily or heavy, with a savory depth that keeps you reaching for another spoonful.

The chicken is so tender the meat just falls off the bone, and eating it together with the glutinous rice inside made me feel really full and satisfied after one bowl.

Why the seafood scallion pancake is the real highlight

Dream Samgyetang is known for its samgyetang, but the dish I want to recommend even more strongly is the seafood pancake. Seriously, order it together. A bite of hot, rich samgyetang broth followed by a bite of crispy pancake — that combo works so well.

The outside is golden and crispy with seafood inside, so it changes up the texture and makes the meal a lot less one-note compared to just eating samgyetang alone.

Honestly, next time I go I'll probably order the exact same combo — samgyetang plus seafood pancake. It'd almost be a shame not to order the pancake haha. I'm thinking about it again even while writing this!😉

Parking at Dream Samgyetang: 2 hours free in the basement lot

Since it's near Dongtan Station, parking might be the first thing you worry about. But Dream Samgyetang has a building basement lot, and it's free. You can park anywhere from B1 to B4, so there's usually plenty of space.

Parking tip: as soon as you arrive at the building, head straight down to the basement. Don't even think about parking illegally on the ground floor — just drive straight into the building's parking lot from the start. It's 2 hours free!

Is Dream Samgyetang worth the trip near Dongtan Station?

With samgyetang, in the end it all comes down to whether the broth is good enough to think about again. At Dream Samgyetang, the broth is rich but never overwhelming, and the chicken is tender enough to really give you that 'I just ate something restorative' feeling. Add the seafood pancake and the whole meal feels a lot more filling.

I originally just went looking for a good samgyetang place near Dongtan Station, but walking out, I found myself thinking, 'I'd come back just for that seafood pancake.'
