Outdoor brunch with a dog in Gwangalli: basil oil pasta at Marento
In short
Marento is a dog-friendly brunch restaurant in Gwangalli, Busan, right in front of the Waterside Park public car park; it serves brunch by day and runs as a bar in the evening. On a weekend lunch visit, the writer ordered basil oil pasta (17,000 won), truffle mushroom cream risotto (19,000 won), the Mare Brunch (16,000 won) and a Bokja ade (6,000 won). The food was not mind-blowing but not bad either, and the outdoor seating and reasonable prices for Gwangalli were the highlights. Marento is a good spot for an easy brunch in Gwangalli with your dog.

These days you can't talk about Busan's top date spots without mentioning Gwangalli. This time I visited Marento, a brunch restaurant in Gwangalli where you can enjoy all kinds of brunch dishes from morning into the afternoon,

In the evening it turns into a bar, and I hear the snacks that go with drinks are so good that it's a popular date spot. It's also a dog-friendly brunch place in Gwangalli, so it would be nice to visit with your dog.
Where is Marento in Gwangalli, and where can you park?
Marento is near Gwangalli Beach, right in front of the public car park by Waterside Park. If you park in the Waterside Park public car park, you get ₩1,000 off per table. Otherwise, there's no parking provided.

Marento's outdoor seating and dog-friendly atmosphere
Marento has outdoor seating, so on a sunny day like these it's perfect for a relaxed brunch.

Pets are welcome!

I went at weekend lunchtime, during brunch hours, so it was quiet and nice. The weather heats up fast these days, but it was cool inside Marento. I think the outdoor seats are fine through June.
How to order at Marento: tablet ordering and set menus
Everything at Marento is ordered from the tablet on the table, and I also filmed the full menu. Do check out the video above!

There are set menus too, which gives you lots of choice. I thought about ordering a set, but I don't drink americano, so I skipped it.
What we ordered at Marento and how it tasted

This is everything we ordered. Check the video too!
Bokja ade ₩6,000 and cider ₩2,000

First, the Bokja ade (a fruit ade) at ₩6,000, good for sharing. It was fresh and sweet, and tasty. I also ordered one cider (a clear lemon-lime soda) for ₩2,000.
Basil oil pasta ₩17,000: my husband's top pick
Marento's basil oil pasta (₩17,000) was the top pick of my husband, who especially loves basil. It's an oil pasta full of basil aroma, so if you usually like basil, you'll probably like it.

The noodles were cooked just right and the sauce soaked in well, and toppings like broccoli and shrimp were tasty too, so it was satisfying from start to finish. I think it's a menu you won't regret.
Truffle mushroom cream risotto ₩19,000

This is the truffle mushroom cream risotto, ₩19,000. I usually love mushroom cream risotto, so I tried it. The truffle oil gives off a lovely scent, a nutty mushroom aroma that got me excited even before eating.

It's a thick, rich risotto, yet it never felt heavy and the spoonfuls kept going. I'd recommend this one too!
Mare Brunch ₩16,000

And since it's a brunch place, we ordered a brunch dish too. The Mare Brunch (₩16,000) is a sweet breakfast-style brunch plate topped with assorted fruit and French toast.

Is Marento in Gwangalli worth a visit with your dog?
Overall, the food at Marento wasn't bad. It wasn't a total wow, but the atmosphere is good, pets are welcome, and the prices are decent for Gwangalli, so I think it's worth a visit once. There are plenty of other dishes too, so next time I want to try something different, haha.
